What would be the best thing to do if a moderator gave you a source name, and you sent your hard earned money in faith, and three months later you have no gear and no letter?
sincerely discouraged

It's not the Mods fault. He was just trying to help you out. E-Mail the Mod, and then post the source as a scammer if it's not worked out. No letter? No gear? You've probably been scammed.

Getting scammed is just a risk playing the game bro. Does it suck? Of course. But you can't blame anyone for a source scamming you. Most scammers used to be legit at one time or another. You just got in at the wrong time. Later, Green

Sorry to hear about your discouragement. It's a terrible feeling to be scammed, and many bro's including myself can relate to it.

I don't see how a mod could possibly be held responsible. Mods do not recommend known scammers.

There's really something about a person who used to be an honest businessperson turning scammer. To me it's hard to comprehend. Why would somebody who has built his business providing a good service quickly truncate it as a scammer? Putting aside the issue of morals and ethics, there's just no future in scamming.
