I just picked up the book, Body for Life, by Bill Phillips. Has anyone here heard or tried this 12 week program? Something about the most improved person from the program will win a red Lamburghini. Some of the before and after pics are quite incredible...wonder if some were on the juice???? IP: Logged |

i tried that for like 4 weeks, trust me, you will not look like those guys unless you looked liked that before because muscles have memory. or you juice like a mofo. its actually a pretty good routine if your looking to shed some bodyfat. lost like 10lbs in those 4 weeks. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I did the program almost two years ago. It's a JOKE. There is no way you can make a change like that in 12 weeks w/out gear. There have been controversies with that whole deal. Some of the contestants had actually posed professionally in his magazine a year before entering his "contest". So much for all contestants being amateurs. The only thing that shit is good for is Bill's marketing strategy for supplement sales. I agree, BILL SUCKS (although his creatine research has been significant) IP: Logged |

I do not care to much for Bill but the program helped my mom drop 50 pounds...But since she stoped the program she has toned up even more....Thankgod she is finally listening to me....I think for the avg Joe Smoe it's good cause it motivates people to get off their butts and take that first step to better fitness.... I TRIED IT ONCE. THE ROUTINE ISNT BAD, THE DIET ISNT BAD. BUT THOSE KIND OF RESULTS IN 12 WEEKS ARE BULLSHIT. I USE MYOPLEX, BUT I DONT PAY THE AVERAGE PRICE FOR IT(I ONLY PAY30$ A BOX.) PHOS HP IS A JOKE CELL TECH IS BETTER BUT DBOL RULES. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Bill philips wrote "The Anabolic Review" book back in like the 80's and now he says that all you need is supplements. You can't mock the gear if you were once a juicer too. Yeah sure... a little creatine would be all that I need if I juiced hard for like 10 years. He sold out just to make money. I think he's a wise man for doing that but I loose all respect for someone who barks at the steps they once climbed.

I think TxCollegeguy has it about right. Body For Life (BFL) has been pretty successful at introducing a lot of fat, middleaged folks to weight training, though very few (maybe none) make the kinds of gains, unassisted, as do the people with Before & After shots in his book. Three reasons for this. First, EAS gets a tremendous response (in terms of sheer volume of applicants with B&A shots) when it sponsors the BFL program. The first year they got 50,000 plus responses. Now, give me 50k of *anything* and I can show you that there are a hundred or so cases that are several standard deviations above the mean on any standard you care to name (IQ, income, buffness, or past number of dates with Cindy Crawford). That's just statistics. Second, it looks for them Before shots that a lot of these folks with impressive 12 week transformations already had some good muscle (relatively speaking) under their flab. The BFL program just helped them strip off the fat so the muscle showed. Not to belittle that as a feat, but it's not the same thing as you all know as adding pounds and pounds of quality LBM in a few weeks. Third, it seems that gear may have played at least some role in at least some of the cases. If you watch the BFL video (which EAS will send you free) you'll learn that 2 of the original 10 BFL "champions" failed a lie detector test (for what that's worth) on whether they geared up during their BFL programs. One of the two (the tape also shows) had a past history of steroid use in the '80's and looked pretty damn hinky when he was confronted about it, so it's anybody's guess what was going on with him. The second guy who failed the lie detector was reported to have put on something like 33 pounds of LBM during his BFL 12 week program, supposedly on nothing but mother's milk and EAS supplements. If that's true, we should all just buddy up with this guy and let him be our guru. I don't buy it, but Bill Phillips did (if, apparently, with some reluctance). But let's not lose sight in all this of TxCollegeguy's point about his mom. BFL has introduced literally thousands of people to weight training. You may not like that (the gym's are too crowded already) but, frankly, I like it that folks like TxCollegeguy's mom has been involved in lifting, and may, in time, become more sympathetic to all the issues we discuss on this board. Maybe that's a pipedream, but I suspect the BFL program will be, in the end, good for the iron game, and maybe even for gearheads. BTW, I've never been involved in BFL didn't even hear about BFL until I was already several years into my addiction to iron, so I don't have any axe to grind here. Just my $.02. Bjaarki IP: Logged |

The program does work, and I achieved excellent results but I stuck w/ the program and no cheating. I dropped from 240lbs down to 195lbs while on the 12-week workout program and diet. I didn't waste my money on EAS products tho. I actually wish I hadn't done it cuz I lost alot of size, now i'm bulking, i want some back. IP: Logged |

I have to agree with the guys who say that BFL does do some people some good. I saw a guy at my gym make great progress while on the program. Its good for those who want to lose BF and need some incentive to get off the sofa. BTW, in case y'all hadn't heard, Bill Phillips sold EAS. IP: Logged |

I did that spokesperson challenge for EAS about 3 years ago and I got in the best shape of my life. I carb depleted the last 4 weeks and got ripped as hell. I only weighed 196 lbs. when I started it though. Now I weigh 230 and I'm thinking about doing it again. It's just that now all these fat guys do it and get skinny. No one trys to get big and ripped for it. But like everyone else said EAS is a ripoff, and Bill Phillips is a rich jackass. IP: Logged |

You have to understand that the pictures are illusional. If you take a picture of some out of shape fat ass with bad lighting who is trying to look as bad as possible, then have him train hard as hell, eat a perfect diet for three months, carb deplete, shave, get oiled up and have after shots done by a professional photographer you will see that the pics are legit, as is the program. There was a piece in testosterone magazine a few months ago that showed what a difference lighting can make in before and after pics. You can say what you want about Bill Phillips, but anyone who can motivate thousands of people to get in shape and feel good about themselves, regardless of being motivated by money, has my respect. Everyone on this board knows about the supplement industry and what kind of business it is. But for the people who are so out of shape it is depressing kicking out two hundred dollars a month is a bargin when it comes to actually enjoying life again. DC IP: Logged |
