For a week and half I could hardly hold a heavy thought in the gym. Every part of my body felt weak and I could never get a pump anymore, no matter what I tried. I didn't want to rely on gear to pull me out of it. I would prefer to hit a cycle while I'm running, not crawling. My work / school schedule was killing me and every workout I had sucked more than the last one. I hadn't had a "break" for almost a year, so I decided to take a couple of weeks off to simulate taking that vacation that I can't afford. I'm a week into it now and I feel like a bitch. I dropped the food intake and tried to completely forget about the gym. I'm starting to even miss the smell of the gym, but I want to hold off until I'm pissing my pants to get into the gym. Am I doing the right thing? What do you guys do to rekindle the fire? IP: Logged |

While you are on your "vacation", what I would do is this. Get yourself a good weight lifting book (Arnold's Encyclopedia) or similar and start reading it. There are experiences in there that he has had in the gym and training principles that just make you want to lift. I would also come up with a new routine...I always get excited when I try new exercises or routines. Get yourself something like Ultimate orange for when you head back to the gym cause that will get you all fired up. Talk to your friends that lift regularly and see how their workouts are coming. If they are progressing then this should motivate you also not to fall behind. This is stuff that works for me. Plus looking at pictures of what you used to look like before you ever worked out helps. Hope you get the urge back soon! Take er easy. ------------------ IP: Logged |
