This is a copy of a post made by Dr. Mark on another board. Its a pretty good idea for a physician to block estrogen production in patients during an anabolic steroid cycle. It not only prevents gyno but, excess estrogen also acts to shut off the natural production of testosterone. If you block the estrogens, you help the body recover after a cycle Rather than blocking estrogen from reaching estrogen receptor sites in the breast tissue, (for example, clomid and tamoxifen), aromatase inhibitors reduce the actual amount of circulating estrogen in the body. Some of the very specific estrogen production blockers are Femara (TM) [letrozole) and arimidex (anastrozole). A less specific estrogen production blocker is cytadren (aminoglutethimide). The specific estrogen production blockers bind to the enzyme aromatase, (note that all enzyme names end with "ase"), and inhibits it from converting a precursor hormone - androstenedione - to estrogen in tissues, such as fat, liver and muscle. ------------------ http://2thick.elitefitness.com IP: Logged |
