I decided to switch things up a bit with my chest workout last night......and I really think I shocked the hell out of the muscles. However, I can't move today My chest spasms and cramps...my tri's hurt so badly I can't bend my arms....and my shoulders hurt so badly I can't lift my arms (not that it matter since I can't bend them anyway). In 7 years of lifting I've never experienced soreness like this......any suggestions so I can at least eat or maybe drive a car.

I had something very similar happen to me in high school when i was wrestling. I worked out so hard that the next day i couldnt put on my jacket. It was so intensely sore for two days that i finially went to the hospital. What happened was that i was so dehydrated that when i was working out, i was actually burning muscle away. When i urinated, it was a release of protein from my body..im not saying you have this, but it is very similar to waht i had a few years back. Monitor yourself very closely, especially if you have to lift tomorrow bro.

Damn what a workout. Sorry to hear that.
You are probaly already getting enough fluids
I imagine. I like sitting in my jaccuzzi sometimes when that happens it provides a little relief. And light massagge... I mean light if you can find a good thereapist.

Hope you get better quick.

I dont know man, If he has been lifting for seven years, he obviously knows his body and this isnt a normal response to lifting. SSMAN if you have as intense pain as you are describing i really would not hesitate if it does not subside in the next few days.

I would try doing some stretching, pushups, and no-weight squatting just to warm the muscles and stretch them a bit...... it will hurt like hell but afterwards you will feel looser and better. Always works for me when I get extremely sore, and dont forget to drink lots of water.

momma always says an epsom salt bath is for muscle soreness and sprains. hehe. could help. i have a big tub of it under the sink. i use it to keep skin clear when on the "you know what". hehe.

get mega protein and take a nap. always seems to help me a bit at least. get all your vites too. basically make an optimal recovery platform. also if you are twitching eat some bananas to keep the cramping and stuff down. (potassium) just dont take too much of it, it has a bad way of working opposite if you take too much.

email me what you did/workout so i can do it. maybe i can modify it for shoulders and maybe for once i can make them sore.

goodluck bro.

Peace!Nate out.

have you ever tried dsmo, this stuff works wonders for me, They sell it right on the shelve as a keyboard cleaner here (in my supplement store hehe)...or you could try some inner g or renutriant...these legal ghb type products can really help with recovery if taking before bed. try the hottub...good luck. hey could you post that workout, I could use a little change also...

I feel for ya bro. About 1 1/2 to 2 months after my last cycle was over I was getting extremly sore after my workouts. I attributed it to a kind of overtraining. I was still forcing my body to try and do what I was doing when I was on cycle. ust curious, are you on or off right now?

When I'm that sore, I usually go to one of those Oriental massage parlors....for $50.00 they give me a nice rubdown...then they ask if you want more. For another $50.00 you get a killer blowjob. It will make you forget all about your soreness/spasms...

Heat!!! Whether it be from a Sona, Jacuzzi, or Icy Hot. It will increase blood flow and ease the pain.

Leave it to you fuckers to want the workout......heheheheheh I'll post it, but don't say I didn't warn you!!

For the last 10 weeks (during my cycle) my chest workout has looked like this:

incline barbell press 4 x 6-8 reps
flat bench barbell press 4 x 6-8 reps
decline barbell press 4 x 6-8 reps

Yesterday I decided to try this:

flat bench barbell press 2 x 12-14 reps
2 x 4-6 reps
flat bench flyes 2 x 8-10 reps
incline barbell press 2 x 12-14 reps
2 x 4-6 reps
incline flyes 2 x 8-10 reps

I did the first 2 sets of flat bench and incline with high reps...hitting momentary muscular failure at 12-14 reps. The next 2 sets were extremely heavy weight, low reps. After each of the last 2 sets I went straight into a set of flyes without resting. That allowed me to totally wipe out the pectoral muscles. Benching is a compound movement....and I always hit failure with my tri's and delts before my chest. With this workout, once the assisting muscles could no longer go....I went into a pectoral isolation movement to finish it off. On every set I kept my back flat on the bench, legs crossed...holding my feet up, and flexed my back for total pectoral isolation. At the peak of each movement I contracted my pecs very very hard!! On the flyes, visualize holding a tennis ball between your pecs....twist the dumbbells in (so your thumbs point out).

I look forward to all your posts on muscle soreness....I'm off to buy stock in Icyhot

I did that to my calves one time and couldn't walk for three days. I had to miss work and everything. The soreness didn't hit until late in the second day. Only time will heal all of the soreness. Good Luck.

It was the stretch of the flyes, myotatic reflex my friend. If it has been 24hrs. since the workout heat would be alright but make sure it's MOIST heat not a dry heating pad, that could make it worse.

i would buy icy hot from a vet supply store, for 5 bucks you can get about 32 oz of the shit-----meant for horses though---think it is a little stronger than the stuff at the drugstore so be careful and do not put it in sensitve areas or jerk off with it!!that will make you burn too!!

SSMAN...Naproxen is great for inflamation if that is what your experiencing. I take a gram a day, insurance picks up the tab and it is costing me $5 a month for generic naprosyn. You may want to also try some type of a lactic-acid buffer.
