I am experienced in the following: Unix/Linux system administration, inclusive of all routine day to day sysadmin tasks, such as DNS/sendmail, etc.. I run my own dedicated server on a Linux/Intel based platform (dual 650 CPU/512 MB RAM + latest ultra-wide SCSI's + RAID), with a lightweight Apache binary (1.3.12) on port 80, Apache 1.3.12+mod_ssl on 443, and locally proxy all dynamic content to an Apache/1.3.12+Mod_Perl-1.24 server on the same machine for maximum efficiency. Almost all of the programming I have done recently is in mod_perl with MySQL DB backend. With mod_perl maintaining persistent DB connections is extremely trivial and avoids the huge expense of establishing a new connection for every request. I mostly code (in order of precendence) in mod_perl,perl,C, and some C++. Up until last month I was doing freelance - have lot's of experience with e-commerce systems, interfacing applications with merchant banks for real-time CC processing, shopping carts, search engine applications, banner servers, and more.. I have also studied (informally) biochem for several years, and to a lesser extent, organic chemistry. Mostly anabolic agents and nutritional research. This was, to reiterate, all informal research and done in spare time though. IP: Logged |
