Hey guys, today I just did my first Humulin R insulin shot. I had some u-100 syringes on hand and found out last night that insulin is over the counter, which I did not know. Anyways, I am going to post what I am doing and plan to do and ask a few questions to make sure I am doing this as safe as possible. First of all, I started out with a 2 IU shot immediately after my workout. Few minutes later took an N-Large weight gain shake containing 90grms carbs and 52grms protein. About an hour to an hour and a half after the shot and the shake I plan to eat another moderate to high carb meal. I plan to increase my dose by 1 IU every workout until I reach about 7 IU. (I am 5'8" at 160lbs.) Since I will only be taking it after my workouts, which are in the mornings, I only take on the days i lift, correct? Rule of thumb-- 1 IU per 20lbs. body weight? 10grms carbs for every 1 IU. If I am only taking these low doses, is it ok to be taking in this many carbs after the workout? EX. 2-3 IU with 90grms carbs. Also how long should one stay on insulin without a break? How much should I expect to gain? Sorry this is so long-- I just want to make sure I am doing this to the book cause I am very aware at how dangerous it can be. Any suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated guys! I'm just really excited, never done anything like this before, nor have i every done roids. IP: Logged |

Seems reasonable! It's good to see someone start with small dosages and work their way up. 2iu wont do shit but it's best to be safe then sorry. Increasing by 1iu is good but by 2iu shouldn't be that dangerous. Remember it only takes about 10g carbs per iu so for 2iu extra eat an apple. I would up the dose until it becomes uncomfortable. Most feel that more than 15iu is counterproductive. For your size about 8-10 max. Good Luck and have simple carbs like dextrose after insulin did I mention that creatine at about 15g with the insulin and dextrose is a good idea. Remember if injecting sub-q the insulin takes about 20-30 min to start acting. Stop insulin after 4 weeks and take atleast 8 weeks off. Don't expect too much without stacking with gh or roids. Yes Insulin is OTC in most states. It is cheap and very effective but remember not to take it over 4-6 weeks. I have used it on DNP and it really helped my workouts. I am going to use it right after this contest between my cycles. Your figures are correct in 10g carbs/1iu and 1iu for every 20lbs for a maximum level. You are doing the right thing not to jump in and take 10 iu's. I will suggest though that you be extra carefull. It is suggested in some books to speed up absorbtion of the hum.R you can inject in the muscle. The effects are almost immediate (5-10mins vs 2-3hrs) you will feel it lowering your blood sugar unless your prepared. I don't suggest this at more than 2-3 iu's. It is very tricky and can drop you like a fly meeting a can of Raid!! I am going to be using this method to super compensate w/carb up before my contest but I have a nurse on hand with glucose and IV. Stick to the fat injection and you'll notice faster recovery and a great anabolic response. Also anyone going to use insulin....please read up on it and use on humulin R!!!! Also, have some fruit juice on hand just in cause you get feel low blood sugar symptoms coming on. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I worked my way up too. I'm 230lbs and do 6IU in morning and 6IU after training. Everyone is very different when it comes to dosages of insulin. I got up to 8IU twice/day and didn't feel well so dropped to 6 and feel great. Also w/gear/HGH. Watch out for that second spike a couple hours later. Always have simple carbs w/you wherever you go. to get Insulin at your local pharmacy ...do what i did....call a pharmacy say that your cousin wants you to pick up some insulin for him....can I do that without a persciption?I hit paydirt on the first one I called! Though they told me that some pharmacys require that you have a diabetic card,...that is why i would call some places first Hell I even found a pharmacy (Fred Meyers, one particular store)that has it out on the counter in one of those little mini fridges...so you can get to it when the pharmacy is close but the grocery is still open 24-7 IP: Logged |

Hey thanks a bunch for all the input, it seems that insulin and uses is one of the least understood of all drugs that bodybuilders use. Anyone thinking about using should read up on their material before actually doing it! I just walked into CVS pharmacy and asked for a Humulin R insulin preparation and they handed me one... damn how simple! Well anyways, one more question to make sure this is correct. To inject into abs, I pinch fold of skin at lower abdominals and inject into the adipose tissue? Wouldnt it take a MUCH longer time for something to act if it has been injected into fat? IP: Logged |

big_guy1: I shouldn't have said that it is counter productive. What I meant is that when taking more than 15iu per shot. Most agree that there is really not much benifit because the muscles can only uptake a certain amount of glucose and aminos. More insulin per shot usually will just push the carbs into fat cells cause muscles are saturated. If taken 2 shots a day you could use 15iu or whatever per shot. Lots of pros are using longer acting insulins but I wouldn't play with that as it requires a blood glucose monitor and very controlled environment. IP: Logged |

CLEMDOG: Yeah taking the insulin sub-q is just like that pinch fat and inject in fat it takes about 20-30min for the insulin to start acting. You will know you will feel light headed. IM is better but I have never tried it. It is much faster acting like under 5min so I would drink a shake of Whey and Dextrose (predigested sugar) and then inject right after. Also IM can leave a bruise so I wouldn't want like 4-5 bruises a week on my arms and legs. IP: Logged |
