How many major leaguers do you think juice. There is no drug testing in the bigs and these guys make it look like thay are playing on little league sized fields. It sure as hell wasn't andro that got Mcguire his record. I would be willing to bet quite a few do. IP: Logged |

I'd have to say probably about a third. The only reason I wouldn't say more is that I imagine very few pithers would juice. I saw an interview with Sammy Sosa before the season started and his face was swelled up beyond belief. A former player who trains in my gym whose name I don't want to disclose who has won a couple of batting titles said that the drug of choice for most players is winny. IP: Logged |

I would say that there are a lot. Generally I would say that hardly any pitchers use. Also not many middle infielders (2b,SS) I would bet the majority of power hitters (OF,1B,C,DH) are on. It also may have something to do with all of the injuries, As guys have never been as bulky as they are now. Winstrol would be the drug of choice in my opinion also. A problem must be how they can cycle around such a long season (162 games) Imagine, You are using and hit a bunch of home Runs over 2 months, When your done, if you go into a slump guess what you would blame. The mental problems could be huge. I would imagine that if MLB started AS testing there would be a lot of unhappy players. Sosa, McGwire, Piazza,Gonzalez, Canseco, Vaughn are a few that come to mind. How about Brady Anderson the year he hit all those HR's. Who knows though, We could all be wrong.... IP: Logged |

If you dont count the pitchers, I would say 50% or more. For crying out loud juic'n is simply employment security. Cant blame em. The lay public is so fucking dumb its scarry. IP: Logged |

Pitchers probably dont. And I would have to say guys like Bonds, Sheffield, Garciapara, Rolen, and Liberthal. Rolen and Liberthal don't hit jacks alot like the big guns but do hit a nice amount of homers. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Beezers, I used my super-duper moderator powers to move this topic here. I posted a similiar one about the NFL not too long ago - this is a better forum for it. Matt PS I have heard from a major leaguer I know (a relief pitcher - not a superstar or household name) that around 30% are on juice. I think it's higher. IP: Logged |

McGuire played in the minors here where I live. He was skinny as hell. Anyone ever notice the increase in size between his first two years of bigs. Also, what few people actually know, is that his brother was a well known Bodybuilder here in California, big as a house. Go figure. I am all for it, his job is to hit home runs, plain and simple. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Without going into explicit detail I can shed some light on this topic. The vast majority of major league baseball players use, have used, or will use anabolic steroids at some point during their career. And despite what some of these replies state, this doesn't exclude pitchers. Two of my best friends are very well-known major league pitchers......and both use deca, primo, and winny. One friend plays in the winter league in South America where he scores all of his gear for the next season. IP: Logged |

I honestly would imagine pitchers would use the most. Throwing a a ball 90+ over and over plus twisting of joints and odd rotations puts tremendous strain on the human arm. I would think to have a long healthy succesful career it would almost be a must. It isn't natural to throw an object loke that for as long as they do. The best way to get a little extra juice behind a juiced up ball would be to have a juiced up pitcher throw it. IP: Logged |

Rocker is not a user. AS use is overall detrimental to a baseball player. The sooner they figure it out the better. I know a lot of pro and college pitchers and AS did nothing but hurt their carears, BAD. I guess Pedro Martinez uses also? Velocity has nothing to do with big arms. Arm length is much more important. Have you ever seen a short stocky pitcher? No way. IP: Logged |

As a former pitcher for the Cincy Reds, I can assure you that pitchers DO use gear. On season, Deca and EQ ar most used, primarily to help with rotator/arm repair. Deca is Rx'd by sports medicine docs routinely for micro and macro tears. Off season vearies, many of the guys (pitchers included) use Primo depot, Winny, etc. Gains are better retained so I (we) are told. Many, especially in the Tampa Bay area use GH year round. I being one of them until recently. Easily (expensively) obtained through legal channels. As for Mac, you better believe he is a true gearhead. I have not talked with him personnaly about this subject, but the zits/scars/size/etc. do not occur natuarlly. I was told Sust/Test was his preferred, but this is second hand.

Juicingsoon....you're obviously just a boy playing on daddy's computer. On what facts do you base a statement "steroids are the easy way out"? If you had even a shred of knowledge or AS experience you would know the incredible amount of training it takes to grow when using AS. You don't simply pop some pills or take a shot and grow. This subject isn't based on speculation....as I stated, 2 very close friends are pitchers for major league teams. Both are very well known, and both use AS. Next time do some homework before you reply. [This message has been edited by SSMAN (edited July 05, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Actually, I bet quite a few pictures do juice. As for other players, canseco for sure. Cecil fielder, but he didn't lift any weights, jk, he's a big dude. I'm a Canadian, and a Blue Jay fan, Delgado is a big guy and very powerful. Also, Fulmer, he looks very thick. IP: Logged |
