I was just thinking. Having been competing for almost 10 years now, any long term bodybuilder can tell you about the jealousy that goes along with looking extra ordinary. Since a good 3/4 of most people seem to put bodybuilders down. What do you think the chances are that these people in congress (majority being men) passed the steroid laws on pure jealousy. You know, the same way women act over breast implants. I have noticed for years that the majority of men get the same way. So since all research shows steroids to be safe if used responsibly, and all this was ignored when making them controlled, it makes me wonder why and how? Jealousy? What do you think? IP: Logged |

I think politicians are as susceptible to hype as everybody else. The lay public doesn't accept steroids, so the politicians don't -- they're elected, they do what the majority wants so they can stay in office. The studies that have been done are few and far between and aren't popularized by the media because it's easier to sell product by scaring rather than giving good news. Reality is often just perception based on the available facts to the majority. On a deeper level than AS use, there is a stigmata attached to muscle in general. Although I think most people want to be big and strong, most don't have the discipline to do it so they have to attach a bad name or assign undesireable traits to people that do so they can keep a good opinion of themself. In our namby-pamby politically correct society, we are taught that it is wrong to have strong opinions because it might hurt some wimp's feelings. BBs look good and feel good and subsequently carry themselves with authority and assert themselves strongly and confidently. Instead of seeing it for what it is, people label it as being arrogant because it challenges their own insecurities. And there is the mirror thing. That is kind of a funny phenomenon. We do like to look at ourselves and we do admire well-built physiques, but unfortunately, this is also looked at as a bad thing cause everybody knows, we're supposed to like people for their minds... If we admire somebody's body then we're just being superficial. Oh well, I think in the end we get the last laugh anyway. IP: Logged |
