I have had two scopes. My first one was on my right knee, I had a slightly torn ACL and a torn Medial Miniscus. They had to patch up my ACL tear by puncturing more holes around it so that a thick scar would form over it. They took out 50% of my m.Mcs.(It took me one month to recover) I tore my medial and lateral miniscus on my left knee. (After two weeks I was playing football again!) Don't be worried bro! A scope is simple day surgery. You'll be in and out before you know it! I actually thought it felt kind of cool to have my lower portion of my body completely numbed. I have a greater respect for the paralized now! [This message has been edited by biggmack (edited June 24, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Don't let them touch your knees, true scopes are nothing, but what do the want to look at to fix? The Dr.s fucked my knees bigtime! KNEES ARE LIKE BAD TEETH, YOU CANT FIX THEM ONCE THEY GO BAD. Hope everything works out for you bro. IP: Logged |

Are they shaving the scar tissue to help prevent "catching" while in motion? Are you having problems with your knee bending fluidly? Arthroscopic surgeries are usually pretty minor..otherwise they would be performing real surgery. I have a background in physical therapy and athletic training. Never seen a long rehab for Arthro IP: Logged |

Well I've had 4 knee surguries and the Athro is a simple procedure, you'll walk out from the surgury. You wont be squating for a couple weeks but you can definately work your upper body, hell I did the very next day. Rehab is an individual thing, everybody is different, but 2 weeks seems to be about normal. IP: Logged |

It is possible that you will experience severe pain initially (1-2 days) but it will improve rapidly. I would play it by ear as far as the cycle goes. You can always set it back a few weeks as it may be better to be at full strength. The worst thing would be to re-injure your knee by going heavy too fast. IP: Logged |
