I just finished a 14 week cycle of deca and winny and I started getting what appeared to be strep.... then I noticed these big welts on my face...flu like symptoms and fever the doctor said this was directly caused by the steriod usage and allowed a re-occurrance of the virus that causes chicken pox... or something... this has me FREAKED out! Has this happened to anyone else? MODS? VETS? Ahhhhh!!! bro, what you probably have is the adult form of the chicken pox known as "shingles". Shingles are caused by the same virus. I had them about three years ago, and they arent any fun at all. I got some bad patches that resembled poison ivy rashes, and i also got a ton of bumps like you said. Get you some good medicine from the doc, mine were a bitch to get rid of. I was only left with a few not really noticeable scars from the entire ordeal though. IP: Logged |

DRRman: you hit it on the head... the dr. called it shingles... he said that it was caused because of the immune system suppression caused by the juice... Just want to get one thing straight. The guy you just cussed out is another T bone. I've seen him post before, but never said anything about the name. Cause honestly, I really don't care about the name thing. Hey ripped, from what i understand Deca is supposed to boost your immune system, matter of fact i read somewjere that they give it to aids patients for this reason, and to bring up lean bodymass. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Anyway I hope you feel better Bro ------------------ IP: Logged |

I have never read that AS has adverse effects on the immune system! Some of the most asinine comments about steroids often come from "medical professionals" who spend less than 6 months studying pharmacology in college and have probably never even come into contact with steroids in the years they have been practicing! Hey Ripped, I had shingles about three years ago. The first Doc I saw said it could have been caused by the steroids suppressing my imune system. My regular Doc dissagreed. I know what you're going thru. PAIN IP: Logged |

Some one will need to check but I believe that shingles is caused by a herpe type virus. Related to but not the same as the chicken pox. The Chicken Pox is one in which full immunization is achieved either when contracted or by vaccine. Shingles is an inflamation of the nerve cells mylein sheeth by the lyctic action of the dormant herpes virus. ------------------ If you enjoy it today you can always do it again tomorrow. Since researching individual steroid use for quite some time (not cycles and stacking, etc), and also due to being on a corticosteroid myself (prednisone) I have found tons and tons of information regarding steroid use actually BOOSTING the immune system. Deca, primo and other steroids are gaining popularity in the cancer, aids community as assisting in immune system strength, appetite stimulation, and overall increase in physical well being and strength. remedy IP: Logged |
