IU's and CC have no inverse relationship. IU is the measure concentration and CC is the measure of volume. There are exactly 2.7IU in a mg. ------------------ IP: Logged |

If your looking to use a regular "pin" to measure iu's your going to have a problem. Products like insulin and hgh are measured in iu's, a small but powerfull dose of insulin would be 10 iu's and you can not measure it in a cc pin. IP: Logged |

300kleen is correct. You cannot measure IU using CC because IU is a measure of concentration and a cc is a measure of volume. Therefore, the IU/CC depends on what concentration the manufacturer decides upon. I believe the reason that most people believe that 100iu=1cc is because a popular insulin producer uses that concentration. ------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/biz5/syringes IP: Logged |

Really 2Thick if you say so I believe you. But isn't a 100iu insulin syringe also refered to as a 1cc syringe. iu means international units doesn't it. So insulin is 100iu = 1cc = 1ml what about GH is that 100iu = 1cc = 1ml as well??? Now I am confused !?! [This message has been edited by DREXX (edited June 22, 2000).] IP: Logged |

GH has different IU measurements per mL. IU is a measurement of concentration and not of volume. 2.7iu=1mL ------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/biz5/syringes IP: Logged |

You are right 2Thick. For those interested read this: The measure of most drugs is simply weight, usually in milligrams, sometimes in micrograms or grams. Some drugs, particularly, biologic preparations are measured in "International Units" or IU. An IU is a standardized measure of biological activity or potency based on a quantitative assay rather than weight and is used when the [This message has been edited by DREXX (edited June 22, 2000).] IP: Logged |

So if iu is concentration that means if GH is not 100iu per 1ml then you can't use an insuline syringe for gh. Is there GH syringes? I have never used it. IP: Logged |

You can use an insulin syringe for GH if that is what you want to do. Just simply read the bottle of the powder (usually 4i.u.) and note the amount of the solution that it comes with ( usually 1ml-the entire amount that the insulin needle can hold) that will be going into the solvent. If you want to take 1i.u. then take out .25ml from the constituted GH. IP: Logged |

There is 2.7 IUs in a cc or ml. That is not an insulin unit it is an international unit. Two different measures. IP: Logged |

Brothers beware...if you are using insulin syringes to take either GH or insulin. Some manufacturers put out 50 unit syringes which are only 1/2cc (0.5cc) AND they also make 100 unit syringes which hold 1cc of volume. Be careful drawing up your dosages, especially with insulin. It would be very easy to accidentally give yourself DOUBLE the dosage you intended to take. Check each syringe carefully...it should say what kind it is. IP: Logged |
