The pump that you are getting is not to important. The pump is just a temporary thing
it makes you look and feel better. The most important thing in your workout is to cause
some sort of micro trauma to you muscle fiber. If you achive this in 3 sets or 10
is up to the individual as long as you do
achive it. The pump is only a side affect.
What is important is that you shock and stimulate those muscles.

Good luck.

i would take a look at this: http://www.ast-ss.com/max-ot/course/week2/week2_max14.htm
it has some good info on heavier training, and why you shouldn't be concerned about getting the pump. I know some think that forcing more blood in the muscle will stretch the fibers and make you bigger, but that's never worked for me. I've been training for about 11 years and getting the pump with a lot of reps didn't help me get big. More weight did.

I hope u don't mean the ninth set of the same exercise? I don't feel its necessary to do more than 15 sets for chest, a flat press, an incline press, and flies. U might be buring up too much glycogen which may make your muscles seem flatter, try some sugar drink while u work out, or u may be overtraining if u loose your pump. Everyones body can only handle a certain amount of sets for a certain body part.

maybe you are overtraining.
You should stop right there.

Yep, I agree w/ Jeff - when I lose my pump I know I'm on the verge of overtraining that bodypart - stop right there and either go home and eat, sleep or move on to another bodypart. Any more than 10 high-intensity sets for me and I'm cooked.
