Just out of curiosity, howmany of yall are powerlifters or olympic lifters. I know that this is mostly a bodybuilding forum, but I want to know if there is enough people to start a separate forum for power/olympic lifters.

I powerlifted off and on for years, am a master now(old fart) but my joints are killing me so am bodybuilding at present, but I still employ a lot of power moves. My son lifts olympic - can clean and jerk more than most big guys bench. Yeh, I would be interested in a page on this.

Does it count if I KNOW someone that powerlifts for the Olympic team? Not much of a powerlifter myself though.

I am a powerlifter. T-Bone there is no olympic powerlifting team, the closest person to that would be Shane Hammond, PL'er turned to OL. More money and exposure for Ol even though he was a better PL'er

Hey trapper, I never said I was an Olympic powerlifter. I actually said I AM NOT even a powerlifter. I said I KNOW someone who is on the team. And as far as money, my buddy says they don't make too much money, except if they get endorsements. That's why he is getting a contract to play in the XFL, more money.

my high school powerlifting team won the state championship last year.. but what sucks is that we should have won it the year before but i blew it, i had to successfully lift 615 on the deadlift to win the title for the team, but i couldnt lock it out!!!
that had to be the most depressing moment of my life!!!

T-Bone, I was saying there is no Olympic powerlifting team since powerlifting isn't an Olympic sport. Shane doesn't make much $$, a small stipend each month from the USOC plus a little Money from Adidas. That's Shane in the commercial, still more cash than he got from powerlifting....

O.K., maybe I worded myself wrong. He is a powerlifter that lifts for the Olympic "weightlifting" team. I don't follow the olympics or his career too closely though, so it's easy to get it mixed up. Sorry for the confusion.
