I like doing my chins at the beginning of my back workout when I have little more power. You may want to try either bent over rows or T-bar rows. It is almost impossilbe for one side to overpower the other with thses two movements. IP: Logged |

hey thanks Thick Dog, the reason i put chins third is because i need more mid back thickness, but the left side is far behind because i used to play hockey and the slap shot motion thickened up the right side only. do u think i should keep doin what im doin or just stick with a rowing motion using both hands and eventually they will even out COME ON GUYS I NEED HELP Tulk311 ------------------ IP: Logged |

As a rule, it is not a good idea to do extra sets on your weak side. A better idea is to put aside the ego (hard to do) and exercise your strong side at the same capacity as your weak side. In other words, start with your weak side, do your desired reps and do the same thing on your strong side. Eventually, your weak side will catch up to your strong side. This will help avoid overtraining and will keep your set volume to a reasonable level. I think your volume is too low (the back is the second largest muscle group -- you should probably be doing about 12-15 work sets) and your choice of exercises could be improved as well. I also like pronated pull-ups first in a back workout. Give this a try: Wide-grip pronated pull ups Deadlifts or partial deadlifts: Bar rows Chins or lat bar chins This is just one possible workout, but it should be a good one for you. Make sure your form is impeccable. Good luck. IP: Logged |

I am unbalanced also, turns out mine is the result of a leg-length discrepancy. It effected everything, even my bench presses. Since I got a shoe insert, the problem has been correcting itself. Puc ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think you need to chill out!! It is definatley a mental thing. Keep training hard, and it will work itself out. IP: Logged |

a good way is to do unilateral movements for back such as one arm machine rows, one arm rows, pully rows one arm at a time. This way u work lat equally therefore they will develop at an even rate. When do movements with both arms, you're stronger side will tend to take over and do more work than the weaker side and therefore the stronger side will continue to grow while the weaker side continues to lag behind IP: Logged |

I have a similar problem, but with the width of my back. My right lat is wider than my left lat, however, my left lat is stronger and thicker. I need something to help widen my left lat. Ideas??? IP: Logged |

Contrary to what you would think. Instead of using dumbells and focusing on one side at a time try doing things with bars or two hands like bent over row, chins... Dorian wrote an article explaining that when you use a dumbell to correct a weak point usually the body will find a more effecient groove and work less. Like on a Dumbell Press you will tend to keep the weak side closer to your body to compensate for the lack of strenght. By using barbells you force your body to work in an equal groove. Imagine on the bench you put your hands on the lines and then the bar moves equally on each side...the body cant compensate it must work equally hard on each side... IP: Logged |

I agree with JuiceBoy. Isolate you problem. Go for movements that allow you to work each side seperatly. Also focus you intesity more on your weekside. It will catch up soon. Good luck. IP: Logged |

Two points: #1 Make sure that you have not imagined this problem. Ask someone else if they see the difference. Sometimes your mind makes something out of nothing. Kinda like the I'm not big enough syndrom coming from a 350lb freak.
