I think that you should only train arms and shoulders once per week. I'm not a big fan of training body parts 2x a week except for calves and maybe forearms. As intense and pulverizing as your workouts should be, there is no way that you are ready in another couple of days. I'd give them 5-7 days rest in between. If I'm understanding you right, you are still going to train the entire body, but just focus as much intensity as you can into arms and shoulders. For me, I always put as much intensity for everybody part, every workout, unless I feel tired or whatever than it is instinctive training. Most people think that more training is better. Well yes, but no. Yes, more intensity and also I do believe in volume, but once a week is plenty. If you'd like a suggestive arm and shoulder workout please email me. IP: Logged |

If you want to shock your arms then try the following: 6-10 sets of 60-80 reps and go to failure. Do it 2-3 times per week. It will really shock your arms into growth. Do it for 3-4 weeks. ------------------ IP: Logged |

2Thick....60-80reps??..isnt that overkill man??...geesh.. I had a big problem with arm growth after my first 2 years or so and thats when I discovered the less is more theory for my arms. It seemed that after my initial growth spurt I was seriously overtraining my arms. "Shock" as they call it is merely a response from the muscle when subjected to unusual amounts of stress. Alternate routines, mixed with heavy weight and low sets will for the most part produce the stimulus needed to produce arm growth, aside from proper rest. I would also use forced reps, pushing beyond failure..to the point it feels like your bi's are going to pop right through the skin. Its really easy to kill your arms...so be careful. WCP IP: Logged |

I have just finished my third week of this type of training. I have gained 1/2" on my arms in the last three weeks. It gives you a pump that can only be compared to 0.5-1cc of pgf2 per day. I have been lifting heavy for years, though. ------------------ IP: Logged |

WCP, It is the change-up for sure, but the high reps are great. It requires much more concentration and mental toughness. The last 20 reps will really kill you. Changing your work out ever month or so is the key to constant growth. ------------------ IP: Logged |

when my tendons hurt too bad to work my arms heavily, i went to high reps...25-35, i did this with various dumbell curls and extensions , it was killing me to be forced to lift lighter weights, but after a month i measured, i had gained 1/2 inch! just gotta do it while you watch tv or something, cuz its boring until you get to the 20th rep or so, then its challenging...anyway doing that for a while my tendons started feeling better so i went back to my sets of 8-10, sure as shit i lost that 1/2 inch, so now im going to start back up, i was closing in on 18 inch arms, sitting at 17.5, now im back to 17 and getting pissed! i may even try the 60-80 reps IP: Logged |

I am not a big fan of independent arm work. The most mass I put onto my arms hasn't been from curls or extensions... it has been from training my chest and back. I have yet to find one exercise that pumps my biceps as much as chins do. But what it comes down to is that there is no best way. Varitey is the key to success. If you are stagnat and never do something new, you aren't going to grow, no matter how perfect the routine is. Everybody responds diffrent to training. There are way too many variables in this science, that won't allow for a "perfect" routine. IP: Logged |
