OK, some of you are going to think that I've lost my mind with this one. HAs anyone ever monitored their body temp and compared it to their gains ? We look at raising the body temp to burn fat but how does body temp help or hurt muscle mass ? The reason that I ask is because I notice a big difference in my training if I wear a t-shirt vrs a tank, I seem to get a better feel and pump with the tee. If I sleep in a tee, I do not feel as tired and sore as compared to no shirt. Think about trainining differences during the winter time. I live in Florida so its never really cold, but my gains during the winter pale in comparison to the summer time. Maybe there's a connection between body temp and natural test ? Any mad scientific types out there ? BPP IP: Logged |

I seem to have more energy in the summer, so I have more intensity. Thus I get bigger in the summer that the winter. Unless you are talking about my A#s. It grows more in the winter. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I can maybe contribute some of my own experiences to help form some sort of hypothesis (I just love new shit to think about) Anyway, I always train in a tee shirt under a thicker sweat shirt... now in the summer I'll have a short sleeve sweat shirt while during the Calie winters I'll put on a full thick one with heavy sweat pants. I love the way I feel and it keeps me warmed up to work out and I think it also help prevent injuries. The more I sweat the better I lift. At night I will always were a tee, not so much to keep warm but rather soak up the night sweats I get sometimes. My wife says I'm the hottest person she knows It is also a know fact that the body defends itself by raising the temp during times of stress and or sickness. I've got to think that the warmer temp would increase the body's ability to repair itself. Heat is often used in the therapy world to speed recovery of damaged tissue. Anything that helps increase the circulation helps the body repair. Late Lobo IP: Logged |

I'm no scientist, but it is a good point. I would love to hear more on this. Damn Air Conditioning in my office has been broke for 2 month. Just sitting here with my shirt sticking to my skin. IP: Logged |

I was told that heat increase blood circulation which allows more nutrients to get to your muscles and aid in quicker recovery. It seems I keep my pump longer in the heat. IP: Logged |

as far as heat is concerned, i have nticed that i experience an increase in body temperature when i am at the brink of overtraining. i would classify it as a mild fever.i usually take a day or 2 off and im fine. -Pops IP: Logged |

BIGPAPA, what you describe does not sound like a true body temp increase, in terms of metabolism, but that of trapped perspiration. If one trains in a hot, humid climate, in a tee shirt, the tee shirt will trap more perspiration than say that of tank top. The trapped perspiration will reduce heat convection, since the evaporation of sweat is a major means to reduce body heat. If you were to measure your body temp, I do not think that it would be significantly different than when wearing a tank top, you just feel it more (I may be wrong). I would like to hear more on this topic also, since there is research on the effects of exercise in varying climates, I am just not up to speed on it. IP: Logged |

I don't get the results via persperation or wearing too small of a shirt. And I'm not talking about hue differences in temp. I just know that I 'feel' warmer at times. Maybe I'm just strange but when I'm on a heavy cycle my groin area seems to perspire more than usual and my overal body temp is up slightly. I don't have a thermo that is really accurate or I would monitor it. I also seem to remember reading that prolonged use of sports cups and or tight under ware cause sperm reduction due to the higher temp. This is what put me onto this thought pattern about growth and temp. Any other thoughts ? BPP IP: Logged |
