Any experienced lifter has had days where your workout SUCKS. There are a number of reasons for this - maybe you had a late night, maybe you didn't eat well that day, etc. But those problems are easy to fix.

I'm talking about the times where a few days - maybe two weeks go by and you feel like you are just going through the motions. When you feel like all you are doing is maintaining, not gaining.

I was recently in such a period. But I found a way out, by accident. I was talking to a knowledgeable friend at the gym - we often help each other out - and I asked him straight up, about what improvements I need to make.....

He pointed out a few shortcomings, gave me some ideas, and BAM! my intensity was back. I attacked my workouts again.

Never underestimate the power of some constructive criticism. Being remined that you "have work to do" often gets you started on doing it.

Matt

Hell I've had days like that. I lift heavy for like two hours and I feel like I've done nothing. I get pissed and usually end up overtraining. Everybody has these kindof days. I think mental energy is the most important thing. You have to be 100% focused on the exercise, not work, not the girlfriend or wife, not school, and not anything to do with money problems which we all have. If I am pissed off or upset greatly about something, I may have eaten a great meal and gotten lots of sleep but I still cant' concentrate. You just have to accept the fact that we all have bad days.

Bro, Ive been dealing with that lately...my diet got fucked a bit due to a freak accident injury...and my motivation hit rock bottom. Ive been leaving the gym lately thinking I could have done something better.

But tonight I was thinking, and I just had to be honest with myself, and basically told myself its time to quit whining like a little bitch and get to it. Tomorrow is chest day, and I plan on trashing the gym as hard if not harder than I ever have.

Sometimes you just have to remind yourself that your a special breed...and that not many people can do what you do...they simply dont have the strength of mind to handle it.

later,
WCP

No shit, I agree with yall completely. Lately I havent had the energy to do anything besides sleep and go to school(well not anymore, but still). I have no energy. I have had some crappy workouts, but I found some motivations. I got really pissed at my girlfriend the yesterday and had one of the best chest workouts of my life. It was amazing. That is all you have to do, find something bad in your life, something that will piss you off, and use it to workout. All I could think about for two hours, was her bitch ass. And it made all the difference that fucking bitch. Alright bros, later.
