I started developing tendonitis in my left elbow when I started going really heavy on the bench and on my tri's to pack some mass on them. It kept getting worse so I had a trainer friend of mine(he is actually an excellent one not the normal shithead type) watch my form on flat bench and skull crushers. He figured out I was holding the bar to far out on skull crushers( french curls) and was bending my elbow at a bad angle. I sucked my grip in closer and the problem went away. Have someone that understands proper range of motion and body mechanics watch your form through a series of lifts that hit the affected area. The two of you should be able to dial in the problem and fix it. My 2 cents. Good luck!

I would go get it looked at, i once had the same problem and i found out i had a cist growing next to one of my nerves about a half inch from my funnybone. I had it removed and i'm 100% again. I heard these are very common.

i too developed tendonitis in my left elbow...i was supersetting straight bar curls with straight bar french presses, way too much stress on my tendons! i have completely recovered since by altering my routine...i now do a push/pull routine...do chest shoulders then tris that way they are pre exhausted and cant handle as much weight...same with biceps, i do back then bis, after 15-17 sets on my back i can barely curl anything...i havent lost anything and i really like the workout, but its a shot to your ego trying to do skullcrushers after 9 sets of bench/dumbell presses and 6 sets of military presses...the day i really did damage is when i was doing skullcrushers with 135 pounds on a straight bar, now when i finally get to triceps on my push day, im only doing sets with 100, i can hear people say 'he must have come off juice, cuz hes alot weaker than he used to be'...but since ive never juiced and continue to gain muscle i dont mind

Deca is the answer..... I had the same pain (over training) and hit a short cycle and felt great with about 7 days rest and a couple of cc's...

Deca is not a permanent solution..while you are on it yes from what I know but not sure about after. But Deca will be in the cycle I am putting together anyway. Poses a question...will i cause more damage and not Know it?

Hmmm...seems to be a common thread here. I got wicked tendonitis in my right elbow during my last cycle, and I know it was from heavy skull krushers. They tried to give me a cortisone shot, but I hate needles...hahaha.

I've had tendonitis off and on for about three years now. The docs tried cortisone, several types of anti-inflamatories, had X-rays and an MRI. They say there is nothing they can do. I try to watch my form, use slow movements, use moderately heavy weights and train through the pain. They tell me that I won't cause and more damage by working out hard so I do. Sometimes I'll back off a little when the pain gets real intense and wakes me up at night. Other than that I say fuck it. Theres no way I'm going to quit.

Straight bar fucks w/ my elbows as well. do lighter weight w/ super strict form , WORK the muscle don't just LIFT the weight. I did this for a few weeks along w/ ibuprofin and it got better, got stronger as well. i've been training for 20 years, but just a newbee to the board.

My elbows have been killing me since I started on Reforvit. They feel like I have shin-splints in them and when I'm finished working out they litteraly feel as if they are going to explode. Went to sportsmedicine doctor and he told me just to take it easy for a bit and to use ice three times a day along with ibuprofen. I took it a little easier and did the ice and ibuprofen and it has helped.

i sufferd from this elbow pain due to the same exercise you mentioned until recently.
i'm useing elastic band raped around my elbow during triceps workout .
now its recovering very well becuse i'm on cyc with deca in it.
so my advice to you use deca plus whatever
tests or ... and it will go away.

You should tape your arm just before your elbow and forget the straight bar for a while. You can use an EZ bar or just dumbells. As for Cortisone, Bufexin nothing really worked for me. After 17 years I still tape just before the elbow.

i get that damn feeling too in my elbow. right near the tricep insertion point? ouch. i think i may have to take alot more time on warmup. i normally just warmup withsome light pushdowns. i guess maybe a pressing movement would be better in this case. less direct stress on the actual joint and gets blood in the area still.
