I have been planning to start a cycle for the last couple of months and I tore my acl for the third time this week. I am having it reconstructed next week and I was wondering if any of yall have had experience with using juice while rehabing a knee. I know I won't be able to do heavy legs at all, but I was thinking a lot of low weight high rep and cycling for my leg workouts. I don't want to damage the knee but I still want to do my cycle. Any advice or experience with this? Also I have considered telling my surgeon that I am going to do it and that I just need to know when it will be safe. I figured if I tell him I am going to do it regardless of the typical doctors opinion about A/S is that I just need to know when it will be safe for my knee that he will answer. I don't however want this in my medical records. I appreciate any suggestions.

Bad idea. The cycle will naturally increase the fluid which you don't need after surgery. You will also get that false sense of strenght and may end up tearing it again. When i tore my pec, I went to a very forward thinking doc. He suggested that i refrain from any AS for 12 wks but did agree to script me some GH. I approched him on the subject by telling him that I was considering a cycle for rehab and that I wanted his opinion stricktly off the record.

Thanks for the response. I figured to wait atleast three months and then still be very careful. I have to wonder if my previous A/S use had contributed to all the tears in the acl as well as shoulder damage that I had repaired in November. Do A/S make ligaments weak? I know overtraining and over lifting do, but does continuing to use juice just set me up for future injury? I am not just into BB I am also a sports lover so I have to balance my drives for both so as not to damage either.

I don't know that AS have a direct realationship to tendons or ligamanets. What generally happens is that the increase in muscle size and strength is not porportinal to the increase in strength of connecting tissue. Steroids do not help strenghten the connective tissue at all. If you think of your muscles and tendons combined as a ballon, think of over filling it with water, as it gets larger and stretches, at some point it will eventually break. The breaking item within the body is almost always ligs or tendons.

BPP,
Do you know of any supplements that promote ligament and tendon strength. I am a skeptic when it comes to supplements, but five surgeries will convince me to try some possibilities. Again thanks for the feedback

Glucosamine Sulphate. Iuse about 4000mg/day. I only buy the plain g.s. There are versions that have other ingredients but they are very expensive and from what I've read, the body doesn't need the others. The GNC brand SUCKS ! If you have Vitamin Worlds in your area, they are grat.

Glucosmine and chondrotin Sulfate work wonders for connective tissues. Costco sells a good version called Pain-free by Schiff. Its cheap, $23.00 for a month and half supply. I use it regularly from when I dislocated my hip. Just be sure to take 3 a day or it doesn't work as well.

I agree with BigPapa. I have a strained bicep ligament, the one that connects with the shoulder. I used GNC brand until it the bottle was empty to no apparent effect. I am at the bottom of a TwinLab bottle and am almost back to normal.
