First off, I know I should be posting this on the Diet Board, but I wanted to get more responses.....so here goes. Will be starting my first AS cycle on Monday.....sus/deca/dbol and I've just finished writing up my diet. It consists of weight gainer, Myoplex, whey/soy protein, and "clean" foods,(oatmeal, veggies, brown rice). My calories per day are just over 5000, my fat grams/day are @ 22 grams as I want to have as little fat to clean up at the end as possible. My protein is right at 2x my bodyweight, so I think I'm good there. However, I've read that my carbs should be roughly 55-60% of my caloric intake, so I've got my carb grams at 700, which is right @ 60%. My questions are.......do I need more calories? I'm 6'2", 181 @12%bodyfat.....do I need more fat in the diet, and do the carbs look okay, or should I adjust them as well? Thanks for all input bros......I've been doing my homework on this board for four months now before finally taking the dive, help me get started on the right foot. delts ------------------ IP: Logged |

From my experience I find that 25 times my bodyweight is the caloric intake I require for maximum growth during a cycle.....so your calories look good. Remember to adjust as your grow!! Your protein intake looks good as well, it's 32.7% of your intake. Your fat intake seems low......it's only 4% of your calories. I don't think you'll be very pleased with your results unless you kick your fat intake up to about 20% of your calories. 4% is great if you want to be built like a swimmer, but for a full, thick, and muscular look....try a little more. Good luck!! IP: Logged |

Thanks SSMAN, I appreciate the response bro.......I thought maybe I should jack the fat up a bit, just want to make the "cleaning up" as painless as possible. Thanks again. delts IP: Logged |

During the first two thirds of a cycle wehn I am really trying to bulk up, I eat everything in sight. Then I usually clean it up the last few weeks and try to cut up a little bit. I have found that getting more of your extra calories from fat as opposed to carbs does somewhat control water retention a little bit. IP: Logged |

I agree with the Bros, All looks pretty good, I do think youll need more fat in your diet. Seeing as how your body is going to stay in an anabolic state you will not put on as much bodyfat as you would bulking naturally, constant muscle growth will in turn trigger alot of fat burning. I found that for the beginning I ate whatever I damn well wanted, and it was great..I grew, and grew..and yeah..I do tend to get a bit chubby, with my food intake and water weight..but nothing some cardio and clen wont take care of. Then as dog said..clean your diet up near the end, but damn man..enjoy eating while you can, I only wish I could now..2300cal a day is killing my ass.. Good Luck, and no worries, IP: Logged |

You need to learn more about dieting. No offense. Just cause you eat fat doesn't mean that it will turn to fat. In fact I think the best ratio is 30% pro 40% carbs 30% fat zone tipish... Well if you take insulin then you need to remove fat completly for the next 2 meals but that's a different story. Same thing for after training have only carbs and protein but other meals have good fats like Flax Seed oil and Olive oil. You need fat to build connective tissue, hair, nails and for a bunch of processes... Yeah and WCP why only 2300 cals you will disapear buddy? Getting ready for a contest and wasn't strict enough? During my contest prep I was eating like 3000 cals and loosing plenty of fat... IP: Logged |

Thanks WCP, Your thoughts are very much appreciated, I may just "cut loose" a little at the beginning and clean up the last few weeks. And DREXX.....bro, I use EFA's everyday, and I'm taking 3grams Vitamin C/day for connective tissues...... so I do think I know a little about dieting okay? No offense taken though, and appreciate your help here too. delts ------------------ [This message has been edited by delts (edited May 24, 2000).] [This message has been edited by delts (edited May 24, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Looks good to me Delts. You might want to kick the fat up a bit as the bros have said. Eat whole eggs instead of just whites, the lecithin has antioxidant properties, good cholesterol etc. Flax seed oil is good, try Udos choice. Your calories are a bit high. I would go with 4000 to 4500 if you don't want to have to "clean up" to much after cycle. I've never been big on bulking up and cutting down. Seems redundant. Keep your cal. 500 to 1000 over maintenance. IP: Logged |

Drexx, Yeah believe it or not, I cannot diet with the same amount of calories that alot of people do. I stay in the area of 23-2500 cal. a day. I cycle to preserve muscle, but I prefer to cut up quickly in the beginning stages of my diet, after I get my bodyfat % to a level I feel is reasonable (around 9%) then I usually bump my calories up to 3000 even per day, and can maintain very close to the same bodyfat % all summer. Ive just found its just easier for me this way...and yeah I weigh over 200lbs cut, so Im not going to disappear anytime soon..heh..heh..heh..heh.. later, IP: Logged |

I concur with my brothers. You need more fat. If you've never done juice before, you'll be surprised how the extra calories (even from fat) seem to turn to muscle. Enjoy the cycle and the food. Get the most bang for your buck. Burn off the fat later. Good Luck, and congrats on having the balls to take the plunge. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Up your fat. DOn't be overly concerned with ever little gram of everything...it will drive you crazy. Your goal is to add mass. It is IMPOSSIBLE to gain mass and stay shredded. Be concerend with your protein intake, base all meals around this first. Eat a sensible diet staying away from cheap sugars and you will be fine. YOu must have the fat in your diet to provide enough cals. I would also dump the eca stack, doesn't make alot of sense during a bulking cycle. Your heart rate will jump up while on the cycle anyway.
