Idiots put a ton of weight on the squat bar and do quarter reps. There was a guy kid in my gym yesterday who put on four plates and did three reps, the deepest of which was about a 3 inch descent. I overheard him tell his buddy that he wanted to try 5 plates next week. Of course, he was wearing shorts that covered his knees so I couldn't tell whether or not he had any legs. I have been training hard for 10 years, since I was 14, and have yet to figure out what this method accomplishes!

fucking hell yeah man. another thing that i can't stand is when these tiny frat boys come in and bounce the weight up off of their chest. and then talk shit about how huge and strong they are. is that a cracked rib i see asshole? sorry if anyone here is in a frat but at my school they come in from 4-6pm for frat happy hour and all they do is talk and take up space!!!

That's just the way some kids are. I lift at my college gym and will get done with squats doing sets of 10 with like 250 or so and some homo comes up to show off for the girls on the bikes and throws on 315 for one, and all his buddies give him high fives when he finally gets it up.

partial reps, actually is part of powerlifting trainning, but you are normally dong it in the weak third of the rep, which on squats means the bottom part, so its hell of fun to see a weak guy try doing the same but only on the top rep.

Yesterday was leg day for me, so there i was over by the squat racks and this guy comes over, big boy, fat i mean, must have been at least 300 lbs. So he stacks on ONE AND A HALF PLATES and does quarter reps??? WTF????

I couldn't believe it, and he was getting all stressed about it, panting , huffing and puffing like he was squatting an elephant.

I dont' know where people learn to squat, or what they think they're doing, if your balls don't touch the ground you're not really squatting.

How about when they slam the weights down,and its a 25 lb. dumbell.Or when they take 10 minutes between reps.Also when they just take up space and breathe all my oxygen...

Hey bro I do quarter squats in the cage to get the feel of heavier weights when trying to get over a bump. I also walk off the rack and setup up with like 800lbs just to feel the weight. It helps when you are at a meet and stepping back with 650. I use a 3 step process and I have to get it perfect or my mind is screwed up.

No. Just when squating I have to take one step back with the left foot and then one back with the right foot and then another with the left foot to get me setup. If I take more than that I feel Like I have used to much energy getting the bar off the rack.

I get that sorta stuff all the time when I'm training. I know it's because I'm a chick, and I've yet to meet a young guy who can stand it when I squat/bench/dead more than them. They ALWAYS try to put the weight up after me and do a couple of 1/4 reps. It just cracks me up. I find it flattering more than angering.

Check, your refering to partials, a very important part of powerlifting. What Thick Dog is refering to isn't partials, its RIDICULOUS!!!!

Wanna piss these guys off, next time walk up to him when he's using his heaviest weight and tell him to leave it on the bar when he's done, you'll warm up with that. Never fails to piss them off, hahaha!!!

I love watching the people you know can't do dick for real squats get into the smith press and squat with their feet out about three feet in front of them and just lean back into a squat. Cracks me up every time. I just want to say "why don't you try that for the right way with half the weight and I bet you don't get it up once", but I just giggle to my self and mind my own business.

OK here is a good one. I was at the gym not too long ago when these frat boys came in. First stop bench press. They must have only weighed in at 140 - 150. They loaded up the bar with 315 lbs. My friends and I just watched, thinking either he's going to pull it off or kill himself. Wait for it... sure enough, the bar came crashing down on his chest while his buddies raced to pull the bar off. Laughed our asses!! Got to enjoy having the frat boys at the gym for a laugh.

I see this guy at my gym that sports a weight belt that's bigger than his whole upper body, lifting gloves with straps, and he even wears the custom knee supports. Anyway, everytime I see him he's doing the same thing. He loads the smith machine with four plates, throws on the foam pad an wraps 2 towels around it. He stands like 2 feet in front of the machine, leans back into to the bar, and does his reps by literally unlocking bar and lowering it no more than inch or two. After his hardcore sets of 3 he prances asround the gym limping and rubbing his neck as if he's totally burned out. I'd just like to see what he does on chest days someitme.

I like it when you hear someone push out a loud grunt, then you turn to see the monster that made all the noise and its a skinny fool with hardly any weight on. I see that everyday I go to the gym. The people that are serious there shut the hell up and focus more on what they came to do rather than making it known that they just lifted some weight that was hard for them.

I think most of us have seen people doing the craziest and stupidest things at the gym.

I really doesn't bother me anymore. If people want to read magazines while casually doing 300 reps on the leg extension machine, fine. If they want to arch their back doing 300 lb. deadlifts, it's their problem.

But it does piss me off to see jerks doing curls with the EZ Curl bar -- in the squat rack. Or when people decide that the best place to put their gym bags, water bottles, cellular phones, is on the only other flat bench, when I'm ready to use it.

I just joined a new gym the other day, (first time away from the school gym) and the thing i hate the most is the idiots sitting on machines talking on cellphones. who the fuck do they think they're impressing? my cell phone gets turned off and put away as soon as i walk in the front door. what are these people talking about? I'm LMAO here. Just thinkin about this wannabe that "trains" about the same time of day as I, the saurus, TRAIN.

This guy is about 5'6" a buck 65. And SLAMS the plates onto the bar. I mean 10 pound, 25 pound plates. Slams em. HAHAHAHA.
