I need some info from all you endocrinologist want-a be's. Reading this board for the last couple of years I have learned one inportant thing. Many of you guys know as much or more than my Doctor. I need some info!! I had a male hormone panel done and I'am all screwed up. My dhea was fine,my androstenedione was fine but where the convergence to testosterone should take place it was converging to estrone. My estrone levels were off the friggen chart, while my progesterone levels were vary vary low. So as you might susspect my testosterone levels were alot lower than a man of 44 should be. My question to all you knowlagable guys is this. Why is the convergence to estrone happening and what are the long term effects of clomid usage at a small dosage of like 15mg eod. Also what exactly is dht it was also low. By the looks of a pathway map everything is going to estrone but why, what can cause that? IP: Logged |

Testosterone converts to Estradiol with the help of P450aromatase ezyme. DHT is dehydrotestosterone, Testosterone converts to DHT with 5alpha-reductase. DHT is responsible for most of the masculine features such as male pattern baldness. By no means am I an expert but my GUESS is that you have got overactive P450aromatase. /Komo IP: Logged |

I am no expert either but it does sound like you have high levels of aromatase. An anti-aromatase drug, such as arimidex or cytraden could help, but your doctor should know this. Finding a new doctor could help too. IP: Logged |

by the looks of it you are slowly turning into a female. This is a rare thing that happens but you will be ok. Start looking for bras and panties....hahaha just kidding...Go see a specialist in this field...there are cases of acute hepatocellular carcinomas (cancer of liver) causing your skewed lab results but highly unlikely. Aromatase (estrogen synthetase) is the enzyme complex responsible for the final step in estrogen synthesis--the conversion of IP: Logged |
