Recent research is indicating that the abundance of testosterone in a man's system is a big contributor to prostate cancer. It seems that doctors are saying that it can and will enlarge the prostate if you have too much in your body, potentially leading to prostate cancer.
I heard this from a doctor and also read it recently in a fitness publication. Kinda worried me, cuz test is paramount to most cycles ya know.
What do you all think? How does one keep a healthy prostate while taking test. over the course of months/years? You older lifters should know something about this.

Doctors have been saying that for years. In fact my dad is on medication now that prevents natural production of testosterone because he has prostate cancer. The cancer is known to feed on test. He's been on the med. for about 4 years now and the cancer hasn't spread at all. BUT, some recent studies seem to show that a high level of test. in the body strenghtens the immune system and if the prostate cancer isn't already in your body the test. MAY help prevent it from occuring.

By no means am I an expert on the original question, but my endo feels and http://lef.org abstracts appear to confirm that Estrogen/Estradiol is the culprit and not testosterone. There is of course and interplay with some of the conversion analogues, such as the extremely anabolic Dihydrotestosterone.

As to the best prostate protection, check out the literature on PC SPES - currently in use at many hospitals where even 20/20 did a nice coverage on it this week.

Testosterone and DHT are both healthy for your prostate. Its only when you add estrogen to it things gets out of hand. It has something to do with DHT increasing IGF-1 levels in the presents of estrogen. So as you can imagin, the best treatment is anti-aromitise(SP? i cound never spell it right) agents. But not anti-estrogens like clomid and nolvadex.
