no its not that much depends on you weight to bulk 2 grams per pound of body weight to cut 1 gram per pound. 20 if ya 300 pounds you would eat 600 grams of carbs which would be 2400 cals each gram as 4 cals IP: Logged |

Carbohydrate intake can vary depending on the metabolism.....what I do know however, if you are trying to get cut, you must understand the insulin connection with carbs. To make it simple....carbs produce insulin. More so in certain people (usually fat people) this is the reason for most overweight peoples weight problems...these people have a condition known as SYNDROME X which is when the pancreas (I know I probably mis-spelled that) produces levels of insulin way too high after ingesting carbs. It's estimated that 3/4 of our population suffers from it. You can read about it on the American Heart Associations web site. If you are going to try a high carb diet, you must intake more fibrous carbs, and not refined. In other words more veggies man. Another thing to know is that insulin levels are at their lowest point in the morning or when you first get up, so try to intake most of your carbs when you first get up. As the day goes on, your insulin levels will naturally rise, so you need to decrease the amount of carbs you are taking in. By the evening you should almost be eating pure protein....allowing a 4 hour fast before bedtime. Small frequent meals (8-10) a day will help you achieve better results. Combined with a proper cardio and weight training program, you should have no problem burning fat. Personally, I believe that any cardio under 30 minutes is worthless....but thats my opinion. If you are still under the impression that a high carbohydrate diet is the best diet for burning fat, I suggest you study some more current research, because most of the PT's out there only repeat what they here, and since this is relatively new to the ""FITNESS FACILITIES"", most trainers won't have a clue. My suggestion to you if you are trying to get lean is a higher protein diet combined with some fibrous carbs....but do what you think works for you. Hope this helps you. P.S. Warch the sugars! I cycle them throughout the week. Usually I gram per pound of bodyweight, or 200 grams for 2-3 days. Then 3-5 grams per pound of bodyweight, or 600-1000 grams for one day, then back to 200 grams for 2-3 days. This keeps the metabolism off balance. Of course, I'm in the bulking phase of my cycle right now so all of that goes out the window. I eat everything in sight. I have a weight problem... I can't wait to eat! IP: Logged |

GOOD INFO xrciseink AND I TOTALY AGREE, PEOPLE ASSC. CARBS WITH SUGARS! AND FORGET THAT VEGIES ARE A #1 SOURCE OF CARBS! ALSO I AGREE W TAKING ABOUT 85-90% OF YOUR DAILY CARB INTAKE IN THE MORNING AND TAPER OFF TO NO CARBS, AND HIGH PROTEIN..., BUT IS THAT GOOD TO DO IF YOU DO YOUR CARDIO IN THE MORNINGS? (THE WHOLE CARDIO ON AN EMPTY STOMACH THING?) I KNOW IT WOULD GIVE PLENTY OF ENERGY BUT WOULD IT COUNTER ACT WHAT YOUR TRYING TO ACHIEVE ON THE TREADMILL EVERY MORNING? ------------------ IP: Logged |

What about after work out? Don't u need most carbs rite after workout? I eat very low carb during the day, then after my workout in eve I have a high glycemic carb /protein shake and later a meal w/high protein/mod carb. This makes my last meal at about 9:00pm So I eat low carb during day, high carb after workout in eve. Yes and what about those "fatburning cardios" first thing in am. I read that since you are depleted and have almost no sugar to burn you will burn primarily fat (if u do cardio before breakfast). My only question: in the morning you are very catabolic, so won't you burn a lot of muscles as well? IP: Logged |

It is all based on what your priorities are. If your main priority is to burn as much fat as possible. Do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. You can take a spoonful of glutamine to help prevent catabolism. If your main priority is to gain muscle and strength and aren't quite as concerned with body fat., then do your cardio after you train. IP: Logged |

Wow...I cant believe some of you bros can cut up on that amount of carbs..it just wouldnt work for me. I go from 5-600g while bulking to 200-250g while cutting. I workout early in the day so I take the biggest majority of my carbs in before workout. I then will supply myself at least 100g of simple sugars following my workout to relplace glucose in my muscles. The rest of the day consists of low fat protein sources completely. I would swear Im starving to death...but its all about the game. As long as I keep my body anti-catabolic while carb depleting I dont worry about losing alot of muscle, I couple that with cardio every morning, about 2 hours before breakfast. later, IP: Logged |

I agree with xrciseink. It totally depends on the individual. If ate the amount of carbs some of you do Id get freak'n fat in a hurry. For some reasone I can put muscle on while taking in very little carbs. Right now my carb intake is about 100 to 150 a day. (tons of protein though) 90% of them in the am. NO LIE. Beleive me I hear it all the time that I need to eat more. But Im still grown. (no juice) My partners cant beleive it. They gotta eat like pigs to grow. Granted, they are grown faster than I. But, its summer, wanna stay leaner. Im gonna follow one of my competing bros. diet starting in the fall and winter. See if I can REALLY bulk up. Thats my 2 cents. IP: Logged |

As long as you have glycogen in your muscle, that's what you are burning. You don't burn fat very efficiently until your glycogen stores have been depleted. IP: Logged |
