maybe im a bit stupid, but every time i open and amp, especially primo, i cut my index finger on my left hand. Also sawing the bloody thing takes ages. Advice on how best to get into the amp, without cutting myself would be appreciated. IP: Logged |

hold the amp at the bottom firmly not to firm i crushed one in my hand.take a flat head screwdriver and just smack the top off never cut myself except for that one time.it allways works for me. IP: Logged |

i usually wrap it in a tissue & it snaps off easily....i have run into a few harder ones....i just score it slightly with a nail file ( a metal one ) and it should break off easily....still wrap it in tissue though IP: Logged |

Shit...I always use a hammer. Could this be why all of my amps break ? I don't have a belt sander, would a bench grinder work instead ? The easiest way is to use a file, as suggested and then use the cap off of a pen and just snap it off. If you're not too coordinated, use a piece of tape around the score line and this should keep you from getting cut. All right guy. Here it is. (I do this all the time at work) Hold the big part of the amp in Left hand. Hold the little part of the amp in the Right. Your thumbnails should be both next to eachother and your pointer fingers should each be wrapped around the respective part of the vial. In one swift motion, push your thumb tips and pull your pointer fingers, and -POP-, it's open. You should really use an alcohol pad to clean around the neck first to keep it sterile. I usually rip the alcohol pad near the top, then, without taking out the pad, insert the small part of the vial, use a few twisting motions, then snap the top off like above. The little alcohol pad packets are lined with plastic and foil which prevents you from getting cut if it does shatter. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

Normally Primo (here in Europe) comes with a little saw. They don't do that for nothing. You use the saw in the neck on the mark, you only saw at ONE place. Doing 4 or 5 times left, right, until you feel the saw gets a grip, then you easely break the vial, without hurting yourself, without needing any protection at all. It just snaps. Jeff IP: Logged |
