Sometimes we get so consumed with the latest developments in supplements that we forget about a great source of protein. Most skim milks have 9gms of protein per cup. Add to that the fact that when people eat they drink about 3 cups of liquid. Thats 27gms of protein. Not bad for something thats good for you-

your a little off bro... Milk has made more muscle than any supplement on the market. The old timers new it years ago. You can offer any arguement you want (and yours are good!) but the proof is in the evidence. I've seen MANY dudes blow the hell up after starting to drink a gallon a day. Milk isn't the only way to grow, but it sure as hell works. You can't argue that.

The sugar in milk isnt completely a bad thing. An insulin spike is just going to help that protein go where its supposed to.

oh, and how many animals inject synthetic hormones into their body? Or eat whey protein shakes?

keep in mind that the NATURAL thing is not necessarily the BEST thing.

Milk is a great protein source. For those of you who get the shits, try the Lactaid brand, it tastes practically the same. As for Animal B's comment about how many other animals drink another animals milk, how many other animals :
1. Walk upright
2. Have working thumbs
3. Inject synthetic hormones to increase muscle mass
4. How natural is it to drink protein mixed drinks?
5. I think you get the point here!!!

You guys forgot 1 thing... milk is very high in calcium... too much calcium causes bad problems & a liter of milk a day, i say, is an FN LOT of calcium!!! I dont care either, i love milk & continuously chug it when i dont feel like cooking meat or mixing a shake... but im a little worried about the kidney stones down the road... those HURT! Dont abuse ANYTHING, that even goes for milk... too much of even a good thing always becomes bad. peace

This type of logic always amazes me. There actually is another animal in nature that drinks the "milk" of another animal: ants. Ants drink the exudate of aphids. But your logic is flawed, since there is really no other animal that has domesticated animals for food purposes as we have with cows, swine, etc. Next, no other animal drinks milk after infancy for two reasons: the mother stops milk production after weaning her young, and the weaned offspring begin to reduce the production of lactase enzyme, in essence they become lactose intolerant. Most North Americans and Europeans can drink milk due to a long history of domestication of cows.

Milk is a major allergan to children, due to people introducing whole milk products to children too early in life. This allows for undigested milk proteins to absord across the underdeveloped intestinal tracts of infants and become an allergan. This can happen to many proteins, no just milk. Peanut protein is a major allergan as is gluten from wheat.

I have to believe the kindney stone thing is overated. I can swear that I read some where that there was actually no justification from calcium causing them. Just drink some cranberry juice also!

I have been having problems with my elbows and I asked the sports medicine Dr. if it could be from all the calcium that I drink in milk. He said that that is just an old wives tale and that extra calcium has no effect as far as making joints hurt. I would also like to say that it is kinda funny that we are the only animals that drink milk...and yet we are the only animals that rule the world. Coincidence...I think not.

Im with COCKDZEL, Most of the studies and research on cow milk benefits are funded by the dairy industries. This issue could be argued till the end of time. As for me I think milk is processed junk.
