Filet 'mingon is awsome but very expensive, try some new york strip from a butcher and have the fat trimmed off. It is fairly cheap when bought in "slab" form and most of the external fat can be removed making for a fairly lean piece of red meat.

I personally believe grocery stores over charge and have poor selections quality wise.

black angus beef is going to be the leanest and the best tasting, but it will cost alittle more but well worth it. filet minon I agree is the best for low fat. I a new york cut is good w/ 1/8th inch trim hope this helps.

tenderloin (filet mignon) will give you
the best taste for the least amount of
fat(most expensive too). Generally the
more fat a cut has the more juicy and
flavorful.

I just got two Porterhouses and I buy the one with the most meat on the small side of the bone, same with a T-Bone. Tender as hell, broil it med-rare and munch the shit out of it, fat and all. HEY! atleast it isn't an 18 piece KFC meal(hehehe).

I have several HIghland Cattle farmers fairly close to me and i get all my red meat from them, it's much lower in fat and higher in protein than the ordinary angus or whatever cow. Tastes great too.

And they deliver to your house.

If you can stand the taste, top round and eye round are very lean. They have only slightly more fat than chicken. Unfortunately, they taste kind of like shoe leather.

Hey Bro, Not only do I eat steak, but I cook it as well. I work for a Major Meat Company. The Best steak for the money is London, or shoulder clod, Have your butcher trim the fat and then leave on some of it to grill or pan broil. Filet gets real exspensive depending on what kind of diet your on. The longer you stew or boil your meat, say in a fat free beef broth the juicer it will be. A piece of shoulder clod boiled in beef broth with vegetables and garlic for 4 hours, is THE BEST!!!!

Trust Me.

I gotta go with top round if you are trying to get ripped. Cut it in very thin strips and saute it up with some peppers and mushrooms. Great pre-contest meal.

Lean meat is tough as hell unless you beat the shit out of it with a meat tenderizer. Then it's not too bad. Cheap and lean. Also if you're grillin', sear both sides, then wrap it in foil and let it cook the rest of the way. It will be juicier than you would imagine.

You mean to tell me no one likes Prime Rib!!!
Rare, medium or well done its all good. Actually I like any steak, as long as it has some fat on it so it has taste. As for the price thing, I bought a used freezer at a yard sale for $50. Now I buy my beef and chicken in bulk and pay around a dollar/pound!!!!

I go to the butcher and order Round steak and have them grind it up and cook patties on the George Foreman grill with peppers, mushrooms and soy sauce. sirloin is also lean.
