I'm sure it does a little, but traditional shoulder presses work better for that purpose. ------------------ IP: Logged |

pushpressing will work the front head more than anything. the lateral head, the one that gives the illusion of width, will really not be hit all that hard. but, pushpressing will give u tons of shoulder strength and power. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The military press owns all other shoulder exercises. IP: Logged |

smallwristinator, my point was that push presses will give u shoulder strength and power, but it may not give you mass. it is mainly used by weightlifters who have to stay in a certain weight class with lots of rest between sets and reps ranging from 1-5. in terms of mass military will give you much more. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Whatever you do stay away from any fixed motion machine for shoulders they will destroy your rotator cuff and ACL, stick to basic free weight exercises and remember to do the true king of power movements the standing overhead barbell press IP: Logged |

Push presses are great for building shoulder mass as well as over all body strength, too many people concentrate on isolation movements and forget about larger compound movements, you need deads, squats, cleans, push presses etc etc..

E2 is right. To build size strength and explosive power, push presses are the way to go. I think military presses are for the un-athletic. IP: Logged |

unathletic, i think its a matter of preference on what day your working out, never do the same workout as you did the time before, puch presses may be inferior for strength but are a good change up to throw your body IP: Logged |
