I'd be interested in finding out who can do the most continious push-ups of all the fit women who use this board. Can you compete? IP: Logged |

Because not everyone has access to a gym I figured Push-ups would be a good way of establishing everyone's level of fitness, and seeing who's the best. I picked on you women because push-ups are generally seen by many as an exercise for men. But let's get everyone involved and see what the standard is for both men and women. Mabye we could catagorise the results according to age i.e. under 18, 18-26, 27-35, 36-44, and over 45. The champ gets to feel good about themselves and also sets a goal for the rest of us to achieve. IP: Logged |

well what ive seen as far as push ups, is that there are people who use horrible form and range of motion and can do alot...so youll get guys saying they do over 100...and that sincerely believe they are doing them right...fat asses who cant go down 2 inches cuz of their beer belly, guys who arch their back like gay fore play, and those who lower their stomach like they were humping the ground, but they ALL think they are doing them right IP: Logged |

Good point! Listen to Easton. If you can't use proper form, you're only fooling yourself. IP: Logged |

Straight from head to the toe. All the way to the ground with your chest and fully extend your arms. Army style. I've done 93 but saw a Korean badass crank out 120 in two minutes and got up and walked out of the test. He wasn't done either. He was about 5'6 with 18 in. guns. Couldn't do situps for shit though IP: Logged |

Can I do them on my knees? IP: Logged |

If you can't do a full push-up then try doing them on your knees. Although your results wouldn't really count, you could come out with the best score for women's Push-ups. Keep at it and you'll soon build up to doing them from your toes. IP: Logged |

Push-ups only measure endurance. The amount of strength required to complete the first one is identical to the amount of strength to complete the 100th one. Matt IP: Logged |

Well, well, well. This ought to be interesting. As a former member of the U.S. Army I must say I'm thrilled to have a reason to do pushups again. For the record I have performed 90 pushups 'properly' in the 2 minute Army standard time limit. This was before I hit 30 and before I came to the 'Dark Side'. Also there is no such thing as a 'women's' pushup when working for Uncle Sugar. The 'modified pushup' is saved for the weak and the injured. Try this superset on for size, weighted dips + pushups. Talk about 'swole'!! Are we ready people... GO!!! IP: Logged |

Kahn and WonderWoman have set an impressive standard. I'm way off that at the moment. could only knock out a paltry 40 this morning and i'm just on the right side of 30. IP: Logged |

I'm almost 30 and just did 40 last week in perfect form - shin to the ground and in constant motion (that's what the trainer said). Out of 37 girls (athletes) from ages 17 to 33 it was a record. The closest after me was 26. Not very impressive. Let's go girls...you can do much better!!!! I have faith. IP: Logged |

WonderWoman, I don't understand.....you are out of the Army and looking for a reason to do pushups......I got out and I am happy not to do them. But it was nice to hear someone say "Uncle Sugar" again.... Later Matt PS 90 in 2 mins impressive IP: Logged |

Well folks I am here to report that I only did a measly 75. Again, U.S.Army standard 2 mins making sure to 'break the plane' as they used to say. Looks like I gave up a bit of endurance for a SHITLOAD OF STRENGTH!!! Sorry, I just finished watching "Full Metal Jacket" and I'm feeling a bit ENTHUSIASTIC!! If that flick doesn't give you fond memories of basic training nothing will (even if they were jarheads) LOL. WW IP: Logged |

Push-ups. Well I stared at the fucking floor so much being locked up doing the goddamned things. I would do 2-4k/day everyday except sunday. That was my day of commissary muchouts and rest. Anyhow I would use all different kinds of hand variations + partials and full. Fucking 200 strict form was not uncommon for me or any of the fuckers I worked out with/against. I don't know where in the hell whomever it was that came up with "100 is not common" Any bastard that couldn't do 100 strict push-ups got his ass kicked. Now I don't care what pussy ass moherfuckers beleive me here on the net. But those who have been there know. One thing they know is what was already stated; It's an indurance issue just as running is. I also beleive in the tissue remodeling theory(fast to slow twitch) from the multitude of reps. My theory: Total glycogen depletion(from all the pushups in between meals) combined with shitty high glycemic carbs(gov style) causes a high insulin release. Low blood sugar(from the quick carbos) at night with all the sleep causes high GH release. All that bs = big fuckers eating shitty food and still getting big from muscles that are well trained at glycogen storage. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Kahn, Let's just say that I live far enough away that ,instead of a beer, a keg would be more appropriate. IP: Logged |
