My training partner has a thyroid problem, & no matter how much she busts her ass in the gym, how well she eats, & how much cardio she does, she cannot lose all the fat she wants due to a hypo-active thyroid....she wants to take clen...does anyone know if its safe for her to do, and if so how much she should take( can it be a regular dose or should it be lower)....any help is much appreciated....

has she been diagnosed with a thyroid problem? if so she could probably get t4 or t3 from her doctor to help speed her metabolism. as for clen im not sure. but at least with some prescribed t3 or t4 she could get her metabolism to baseline and work from there.

Well my first question would be..if she has a problem..why not get meds prescribed??

Clen my work very well for her. Most dosages run into the 100mcg range...thats I what Im on anyhow..and what most of all people I know run. However..some peoples tolerances are different.

If she is to do this..have her start with 20mcg and pyramid up to find her personal tolerance..i.e..shaky hands..sweating..etc.

t3 is another suggestion but she could put herself at much bigger danger of shutting her thyroid down permamnately with it, as opposed to clen.

Runt the clen 1 week on and one off..and eca inbetween...
or as E2 says..3 weeks on....which may well work better for her.

Later,

first, did she have the right blood tests including a TRH test? many people are borderline or hypo but only a TRH will confirm it

The first thing to do is take a 5 day average of her waking temperature; if it is below 97.8 good chance she is hypo

DR. Ronald Hoffman in NYC is excellent in diagnosing hypo-thyroid and will prescribe Armour or Cytomel (he prefers Armour because people have less reactions to it

It could also be her diet, if her carbs are too low she can have adequate T4 levels but no ATP to facilitate its transport into the liver for conversion to T3

CLEN will speed her metabolism for 2-4 weeks then it dies off because the body realises its not suppossed to be 100+ degrees; it actually lowers the production of the 5 deiodinase enzyme which is responsible for converting T4 to T3

cycling clen 2 weeks on & 2-4 weeks off may help, also a drug called zaditen (sp?) will upregulate the beta receptors but it will increase hunger

Start clen a 20 mcg increase to tolerance or her BP hits 140/90

personally I would use a nor-ephedrine/yohimbe/caffeine stack and if I want to get really ripped add a week of DNP.

It wont be a problem. Clen is a beta 2 agonist, and a CNS stimulant. It increases metabolism to a small degree and has a kind of thermogenic effect. If she is on throid meds again, she is most likely on T4 (synthroid). For some reason doctors seem to prescribe T4 to women, and T3 to moen (unless the person has had their thyroid removed, then it has to be T4)...
