![]() ![]() ![]() I know this probably should have went on the Training board, but I figured I would get more responses on this one. Ok, I have a Tanita TBF-604 body fat/scale. Does anyone have experience with this product or any of the Tanita scales? What do you think the accuracy of this machine really is using the electrical impedance method? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You didn't ask for Decaman, but I will answer you anyway- throw it out- I bought one it said my bodyfat was 22 percent- trust me it is less than half that. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() from what i hear about the impedence bf testers are that they arent so hot for bodybuilders or athletes with high lean body mass. normally for the average joe out there (or jane) hehe. thats what i hear, i think that they even have a disclaimer stating that its not for bodybuilders (finally recognition eh?) as we have a disproportionate amount of mass to fat etc. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They arent accurate at all. BUT! They are good to find a baseline with, like say it says 20%... if this is wrong or right it doesnt matter, because even if you are really 10%, you know that when it reads 21%, you went up 1%. So no they arent accurate, but they are good for keeping track of changes. Even the model touted as for "athletes" is no good. It is more for runners, ect. They arent made with large amounts of muscle mass in mind. (But hey, I have one, too!) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Well thanx guys...I'm actually glad it sucks. Because that damn thing reads really high and I was like, SHIT! I'm a F'n lard-ass! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey Bros I got the TBF-612, the one for athletes and although I agree that it usually reads a little high for bodybuilders, it can be useful for measuring changes. I use it with most of my clients and just take that into account when using it on the "Heavily Muscled". A good rule of thumb, at least with the model I have is to subtract 5 % points from what it reads. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've got the 612 too, I like it. It is a bit inaccurate, but it is consistently inaccurate, if you know what I mean. I read pretty consistently 12% on the tanita, but according to the calipers I'm 10%. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i have a tanita scale with an "athlete" mode and i believe it reads too low a number for me...but i'm a runner and not a bodybuilder. IP: Logged |
