There are a couple of things:

1) Cell tech or creatine before competing is good.

2) Potatoes are the common food for carbing.

3) Before stage take some sugar or diet soda.

I usually eat a lot of bread (Subway sandwiches). Just on the weekends. I carb deplete during the week. Eat a large slice of cheesecake the night before the show (after you weigh in).

Just how much will you need to drop to make weight? Why exactly, are you trying to make a lighter class? This IS NOT always the best thing....how do you look now? If you are dialed in now....don't crash into a lighter class.....you may not fill up in time and end up looking like shit. If you are close...2-3lbs....it makes sense...but don't try and dive into a lower class wanting to be "at the top of your class"....sometimes it is best to stay at the lower end of the next class....especially if you are "on"...for example...Jason Arntz won the Hvywts and overall at the '98 Nationals at 208lbs.

Easy Mac

Eat Carbs hahaha
But this is really a big question that a thick book could be written on. If you don't know what you're doing then there's really no substitute for having someone work with you who can watch you closely for your last week pre-contest. You know-someone who can tell you if your too flat, too dry, too fluidy, drink less, eat more, etc.....It takes most people many comps before they can judge this for themselves.

If this is your first comp, you might be overwhelmed by the variety of advice you recieve.....carb depletion, sodium loading, use of diuretics, glycerol etc...

Like batfreak said, it is better for most people to look the best they possibly can on the day (not worry about weight class) than to try to squeeze into a lighter class. This usually takes several days of carbing up.
