I absolutely wore myself out tonight in the gym watching some little tampon of a guy working out. He must have trained every single body part in about an hour. It occured to me that this symptom could be applied to some of the hard gainers out there. It is really hard to gain any size when you do not provide enough recovery for yourself. Use your head and really think about which muscles work in conjunction with others. Over training will lead no where. I've seen guys training back / shoulders/chest and tri all in the same work outs. If you have enough energy to train this many muscle groups you should figure out that you're not traing hard enough. A good work out should leave you feeling like you're about to die...not because of pain but because you don't have enough energy to open the car door and drive home. Watch the freaks in your gym...you think they have enough energy left over to run around the gym and try to use every machine ? BPP IP: Logged |

I used to have a similar problem. I wasn't doing 4 body parts a day, but I was lifting 7 days a week. Now that I've gone to 5-6 my lifts have exploded. BUMP! ------------------ IP: Logged |

i know what you mean,i love watching those dudes work out, they do every body part in one workout and their form is way off. thats one of the reasons why i like going to the gym is to get some laughter out of these idiots. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Ive often wondered just how many guys/ladies on the board actually plan their workouts so that nothing overlaps...resulting in no gains..and overtraining.. good post BPP, IP: Logged |

BigRand, Just my opinion but I would split legs and back. You got two huge muscle groups to work. I train : chest, Shoulders and Triceps on Day 1, Back, Biceps, Traps on Day 2 and Legs get a day just for them. Seems to work pretty well for me. Later IP: Logged |

Is training 1 body part per day recommended? I've been doing this for a while now and I'm wondering whether I should be doing more. IP: Logged |

One bodypart per day is sufficient. I allows for better recovery of each muscle group. The only time I will hit two muscle groups in a day is if Im prioritizing a lagging group..then Ill hit that group 2x per week, with at least 3 days inbetween. I get in there and get out. I dont see the point in doing endless sets, when I can achieve the proper shock and stimulation with the scheme I used. I use this scheme: Chest Back Shoulders Legs Arms and I throw my abs in there at least 2x per week when I have time. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I used to do Chest and Back on one day...Shoulders, Legs and Arms the next. I eventually broke apart the Shoulders and arms. Then I put chest and Back on there own day..finally I put everything on it's own day and that has really made a big difference. The only time I double anything up is if I decide to blast the hell out of it for a week. ------------------ IP: Logged |

WCP~ I do the exact same split and I'm freaking shot at the end of my workout. Sometimes I'll eliminate the arms' day and through in bi's with back; and tri's with chest if I know I can't hit the gym that day. All in all it allows for maximum rest and maximun stress on each muscle group. I changed b/c I was guilty of overtraining previously. IP: Logged |

Just make sure whatever your split is that you use proper form. I saw a guy doing straight bar bicep curls at the gym, but he really looked liked he was doing cleans instead. I am suprised he didn't throw his back out. Needless to say he didn't have very good arms. IP: Logged |
