   I've noticed the Big Brother post, so I figured I would help everyone out and post something in response. I urge all of you to visit these sites and download these products. http://www.zonelabs.com - ZoneAlarm is a GREAT program. It is a firewall program, so it will block people and sites from monitoring your web habits. It also logs their IP address, and I will show you how to look that up later. Then, you can find out who is monitoring you. http://www.arin.net/whois/ - After getting someone's IP address, plug it in here and find out where it came from. It will show their Internet Service Provider *ISP* and their address. http://www.pgp.com - PGP is a 124 bit encryption program. The government was trying to outlaw it because they can not even crack it. This is good for sending files back and forth, etc. Those programs should get you started. Also, look into a Hushmail account, as they are encrypted as well. You can also search for a FILE SHREDDER. A person can remove things from your recycle bin, but it is impossible once a file has been shredded. Look under security at: Get secure, and stay safe! ------------------ IP: Logged |

LittleSavage Since you seem to be one of the resident computer gurus maybe you can answer a question. Remailers prevent people from tracing where your email came from right? Do you still need an emailer with a service like hushmail or does hushmail do the same thing? IP: Logged |

I'm not sure what you mean by "remailer" But, with knowledge, a person can read your IP address from Yahoo, Hotmail, Excite, accounts. Hushmail however is encrypted, so tracking and IP through that is next to impossible. I know I couldn't do it. Hope that helps...feel free to mail me. ------------------ IP: Logged |

One of my friends who is a expert in computer security (have been to jail for hacking) says that he is able to go in to yahoo and hotmail and send emails in another persons account, and allso to see what ip they have, he says their ecncrypting software is located on the internet. he allso says its only a small group of people that are able to do all this, because the ecurity is quite high. Ohh shit...I thought I was the only one who uses zone labs. Get this freeware prog, it works with win 95,98,NT,2000. I really enjoy it. another good sight to get a well-made encryption program is at softseek.zdnet.com/Utilities/Encryption_...ing/3index.html the program is Kremlin International v2.21. I use pgp for e-mail with all of you whom dont yet use hush accounts- www.hushmail.com We should all take basic steps such as these if for no other reason that keeping this board a brotherhood.
