![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was maxing out on bench a couple of months ago and pulled a muscle in my pec. I took about 3 weeks off and did the ultrasound and all that shit for repair. Two months later i am still not 100%. I experience a pinching pain almost where my shoulder and pec meet. I am sick of this shit and want to be able to hit the heavy weights again. Have any of you guys experienced anthing like this and what can I do for recovery? Any help is appreciated. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i pulled the same head, what my doctor called the minor, and supposedly it takes a while to heal. even though it is a tiny muscle. mine is two weeks old now and maybe 20%. can't even do a push up hardly. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a major pec tear Oct 98. So I can tell you not to push it. If your MRI's showed no damage then you just need to take it easy and stretch alot prior to training. I can give you my rehab routine if it will help. If the pain is still great, go for another opinion. My first doc told me that I would 'heal'...never happened. BPP IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer and I would have to tell you to go very light for now..like 20lbs dumbbells for reps...if that hurts, STOP! If you tore your pec at the point of insertion, near your shoulder joint..you could be making it worse by lifting. Simple pec tears in the "meat" of your pec can heal a lot quicker than if you tear your point of insertion. Honestly...I would go see an orthopedic physician and at least have an MRI done. Find out the scope of the injury before you make it worse. Lifting could cause you to completely tear the head off and force you to have surgery. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm an Athletic Training student and I definitely agree with the wisdom of Biff....Most importantly - RESIST THE INSATIABLE URGE TO RETURN TO HEAVY WEIGHT- I know it SUCKS to go from pressing 120lb DB to using 20's for rehab., but returning prematurely will prove to further prolong healing....get an MRI to assess exactly what happened and see a good surgeon, followed by gradual rehab....Best of luck!! ![]() ![]() ![]() It's been almost 6 months since my pec tear and I'm only about 70% healed! Strength is increasing slowly. Just be patient and deal with it. It's a hard obstacle to overcome, but it can be done! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I know how you feel too, bro. I tore my pec over a year ago and it still hasn't healed all the way. Lucky for me it didn't detatch itself from the bone and the tendon was still in place. It actually tore within the belly of the muscle and now I've got a huge lump there from scar tissue. Just be safe and go light for a while. Peace Big Bow IP: Logged |
