Lately I've had to do a lot of intraveinous meds. I see lots of bubbles going in my vein so I asked the nurse about it. She said you gotta inject 10mls of air before you cause an embolism. 10mls is a lot, most of us only use 5ml syringes for our roids. And considering we are injecting into our glutes where any veins are really tiny, the chance of getting 10mls of air into one of the small veins in the glute is virtually nil.
