My calves grow like a weed but myquads are puny!

Would it be that detrimental to do a routine that on leg days I go to the gym and only do squats. So I can use all my energy for the big one ect...

I am not trying to make it quicker or easier but doing 9-10 sets of squats instead of 5-6 different excercises.
Just curious!

The old guys used to do it, and they didn't have the supplements we have. I think it would work great. I have done it before, but it has been awhile. My quad workout does center around squats though. 6 work sets, 4 sets of leg presses 4 sets of extensions and I'm mush. I train my hams seperately.

1 1/3 squats really helped me. Go down all the way, pause, go up 1/3, pause, go back down, go all the way to the top. You'll have to drop the weight a bit. Front squats are good too, if you bend over too far-like everyone in my gym-you'll dump the bar.

Really there is no need for anything other than deads and squats if you're solely after leg mass. Extentions work well for detail but really have no place in terms of mass. While bulking the goal should be mass...Squats and deads will stimulate more overall muscular fibers and stimulate them in a way that will induce mass gains. Definately foccus all your energy on squating for legs.

I'm with diesel on this one. I don't have the energy to hit hams and calves on the same day with the proper intensity. Squat heavy my friend, and LOVE IT!

Actually I like squats, they are my favorite excercise. I think that all the concentration and everything that goes into squats makes it such a great excercise. I am not a big guy though and when I squat it certainly would not be thought of as heavey!!
