Im guessing increased traffic due to the radio thing this AM, but it has been slow the last few weeks I believe he said he was upgrading servers though. ------------------ For a good time click here: Search and Profiles (300Kleens Board)

Yes it slow, mostly from the West Coast gateways. I'd offer my consulting services, but they'd make George's consulting venture look like small bananas.

We had 37,357 visitors yesterday. A new record for our site. Help is on the way. I appreciate the EF Select members who agreed to beta test the new board. I will post testing details later today or tomorrow. ------------------ George George Spellwin Tell four friends about elitefitness.com and get a FREE report, "Anabolic Steroid and Supplement Secrets the Pros and Models Pray You Never Find Out!" Hey George, have you considering mirroring and Clustered Server with better connections to the net or is this strictly a board thing? LongTime

It is a little slower lately but keep in mind UBB is a very slow board even with minimal traffic. It doesnt let any of the pages cache. No matter how fast of a server George gets, UBB will always feel a little sluggish.

It's doubtfull a clustering solution will help. Since the problem isn't whether or not the Solaris box George has UBB stored on can handle the traffic...the problem is simply the fact that load balancing either doesn't exist or sucks (ala a software solution). Something from Coyote Point would work well. Also a single net drop is a bad idea, especially in New England. Adding another net drop and putting in a load balancer would be a good idea. Sun clustering would help if the problem was the database or a lower end machine (like Ultra 10's). Buuut if you wanna cluster, I'm Sun Cluster certified. ------------------

But the upgrade was for about 3 months ago. Come on George, level with us. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

I agree, It is VERY slow at times. Like right now it took me about 10 mins to get on and respond to this. So this will be my only post till tonight when it speeds up. It sucks because I have an Ethernet connetion which is extremely fast, only has trouble here with all the traffic. Oh well, hopefully it will get worked out! Mass Monster

Couple more things George, and I'll stop preaching about your system You have an old version of bind which, combined with solaris 5.6, makes for a somewhat insecure system. And what's up with perl being in usr/local/lib? Just pulling yer chain on the path for perl. ------------------ |
