I usually can't work out until late afternoons or evenings, but by then am pretty wiped out from the day. Do you think it's more beneificial to take a 15-30 minute nap about 1 hour before working out, or one after working out. Don't always have time for a quick nap, but I notice it makes a HUGE difference on my energy and concentration later in the evening.

I believe it's much more beneficial for me to nap after working out. But sleep needs differ a lot from person to person. You'll have to experiment.

I love taking a 30-60 min. nap before i work out because i get my energy back from the day, but i always eat a light meal before i nap

I nap for about 1 1/2 hr. everyday after work, it takes me about 5 minutes to wake up. After that I;m ready to go. I live for the naps LOL

It all depends on when you work out. As far as i know, the body runs on "circadian rhythms", meaning that you are going to be naturally tired at certain points during the day. These are instinctual and should not be repressed. EG. Most people are tired right after lunch and late in the afternoons. While most are wide awake at about 7 pm and 930 am depending on your sleep schedule. There is no right answer to your question because everyone's "circadian rhyhthm" is altered by their previous sleep pattern. If you want more info, pick up and university psychology text........I'm a psych major, and just finished a damn final on all this stuff!

I agree with the Dr.When you nap before it seems like you get lazier.I workout after work and I have a physical labor job.I have an oppurtunity to take a shower where I work and it seems like it makes a big difference.I feel like a new man even if im a little tired.I know it seems backwards to shower before you go sweat your ass off but this is what works for me.If you cant do it at work do it at home then go workout.

I've heard that when you sleep your body released natural GH. This is the time that your body trys to repair itself. So, logically, it would be best to take a nap after you work out.

But we all make time for the gym when we can. I have to go early in the morning before work... but the good thing is that the gym is pretty empty at that time of day.

What ever works for ya!

I'm with DrSuperSaint on this one. If I take a nap before a workout I feel like shite when I wake up and can't train without some E/C/A and a couple of cups of coffee. I'm the same if I have sex before a workout.
