What do you guys think? I love the idea of the world's strongest man competitions, lots of fun to watch, but these guys are mostly all huge fat guys! They're all like 6'6", 300+lbs! Who here would like to see a World's Strongest Man competition for guys under 200lbs? I would... bet the competition would be a lot more fun to watch Sorry, this isn't exactly roid-related, but you know everybody in those competitions is on SOMEthing What do you guys think of my idea? Will it ever happen? -PhatD
P.S. The fact that I am 5'4", and will likely NEVER get over 200lbs, even if I'm fat, does not bias me in the slightest against the bigger guys

I guess the idea would be pretty cool, but I don't know how many people would want to watch a 180 pound guy walking around with a weight strapped to his ass. The whole fun in watching is to see giant freaks lifting a shit ton more than you ever could. LOL. I think that bringing a weight class of under 200 pounds would open up the sport to tens of thousands of people, and make things a bit more complicated and a little less fun to watch.

I don't want to be big or strong...I want to be bigger and stronger than I was yesterday.

I think it would be great to have a WSM using 200lb guys. They could have a 200lb guy press, then perhaps replace the first Atlas stone with a 200lb guy, then do the medley with like a tire, then anchor, then 200lb guy. Cool!

Yeah, guess I'm just remembering the good ole days, when Franco Columbo once competed in the world's strongest man comp. He was about 185 at like 5'6", and whooped some ASS on those big fat guys. I'd just love to see a smaller, slightly more healthy-looking guy win for once. Hell... I'm 5'4", wait till I'm 195, then I'm gonna compete in it, show you guys the power of short guys!

There are tons of events which cater to people under 200lbs...just not the WSM. In fact, in a lot of NASS tourneys...the divisions are as follows:
<175
175-200
201-225
226-250
251-275
276-300
301 and up

They are not all fat guys...they train sport specific. Whit Baskin gained like 40-50lbs before the contest to help him in the competition. He was built like a bodybuilder then had to "fatten" up for the contest. These guys are in shape...no matter what you think. Try strapping yourself to a sled or a large truck and pulling it...it will wind you more than anything.

Just something to think about.

LOL at NYstrip, that is some funny shit. One of my faves in WSM is Glen Ross from N. Ireland. That beast could eat a 200 pound guy. I think he is 6 feet 400 lbs. He has probably shit 200 pounds out in one sitting.
