I was wondering whether it would wise to take a sports drink during a workout. I have heard two different opinions on the matter some say you shouldnt because it hinders preformance by redirecting blood away from muscle to the gut, it also promotes insulin release which removes sugar from the blood promoting fatigue. The opposing argument states that you should consume a sportsdrink during a workout as it keeps cortisol at bay, and keeps energy up. Which is correct?

first off most sports drink are loaded with sugar which means you will have an unsteady blood sugar level during training the only time simple sugars should be taken is immedietaly following training to prevent carb depletion and with that you would want natural sugars with some protein as well for recovery best thing to drink during training is water to prevent dehydration otherwise youre putting nothing but articial chemicals into your body.
