Nothing pisses me off more then these info for newbie posts, that have to keep being bumped to the top. Here's a solution, it took some serious brainstorming to think this up. How about putting a fucking permanent link up by the list of mods, with all the newbie bullshit. I'm sorry but, people taking time to make these posts and having to keep bugging guys to keep it at the top is stupid. ------------------

I agree with Blond Myth..although I was a newbie once too and it doesn't bother me to see the newbie posts..it would be nice to have a link up with the mods to the newbie post..I would even like to see George somehow make it mandatory that people signing up to post read the newbie post before posting... ------------------

Other boards require you to read & accept the newbie rules before you can log on at first. Then, break em and you are gone. It cracks me up here - a bunch of new people always bump the newbie post. [This message has been edited by ironmaster (edited April 18, 2001).]

I made this suggestion a couple months ago....actually part of the registration process should include HAVING to read the Newbie Post....Unfortunately I think I got like 1 reply to my suggestion.... ------------------

I have seen before on sites that need verification of age or location that have a disclaimer that you HAVE to read. the cool thing was that you could only press the button ("i agree") once you had scrolled throught the document. But the only problem i can see is people dont read them.....and scroll down till the button activates and ignore all information. Is the newbie info emailed too you when you sign up for the message board(to get the password)? if not it should be. or maybe we should have a test before you are alowed to post!

there should be 1 permanent newbie post FAQ. It could include protocol and manners on the board, frequently asked questions (like can i drink winny), info on scammers, how to find a source bla bla bla. That'd be dope

I think you affended the HardyBoy. ::weep:: I mean, Hardbody. Must be my lisDexia. Hey... maybe there could be random popups, with quiz questions. Like: "Is source posting allowed?" Or "Do you post a question BEFORE using the search option, and looking for answers on your own?" Or "Are you going to post yet another question about Marijuana and training/gear?" Or "Are you fuckin' stupid?" And you have to answer before you can continue. [This message has been edited by Big Brother Val (edited April 18, 2001).]

I agree with King John !!! Put a FAQ link at the top. Remember guys... some people are new to 'this' board.. but are NOT new to AS... so don't complain when a 'new' guy answers some questions.

TBM this is not a flame in any way, but what the hell do you care. I mean really, you don't post here more than once or twice a month. I agree the newbie posts get old, but so does everything on this board if you've been around a while. The newbie post doesn't hurt anyone, it doesn't help either though you will always have 9 million newbie questions on this board, that's what it's for. ------------------

I'm with Ulter. Guys blow off the guidelines, register, and post away like dumbasses. I think the newbie post - bumped up to the top all day long - is way more effective.

How can the newbie post get old. There are newbies everyday. A permanent direct link is a good idea, but until that time, we need to keep it posted. ------------------ *** Dont email me asking for a source!!!!! *** "Catch a man a fish and he eats for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime."

I disagree. If it's not an actual post, no newbie will click on it. They want to read the board. I guess the Blond Myth didn't think about that. It won't do us any good if it was hidden up at the top, where nobody ever clicked on it. Blond Myth...No flame bro. I know you are knowledgable on AS, and if you don't want to bump it, fine. But let the board be. ------------------ Visit my website at http://profiles.elitefitness.com for up to date A.S. info. ------------------------- |
