Anyone know if it is possible? Can anyone come close? Or is that physically impossible?

The guy I train with does 2.5 his body weight, he was ranked 22nd in the US.

I can do three times my body weight on hammerstrength. I want to set a goal for myself for free weights, just wondering what is reasonable as a goal.

Sure, that little kid who's been on Ripley's. Actually he benches all that weight with two guys spotting about 75% of it.

Hell YEAH, it's possible! I used to powerlift, when I was natural, and I could bench close to 300lbs weighing 130... with a pause. Franco Columbo, back in the training days with arnold, could supposedly bench 575 weighing 185. I quite believe it is possible, however, I also think one could count the number of guys in the USA who could do it on one hand

I think its possible but it would be pretty damn hard to do. I weigh 245 right now and bench 505 but I doubt if I'll ever bench 735 regardless of what gear I'm doing! But that presents an interesting dilema - every cycle you do - you (hopefully) gain more weight so its like a revolving door - you weigh more so you gotta do more juice to lift more but you weigh more so you gotta do......I'll just be happy for 600 someday!

It has been done a few times already. Chris Confessore has done 741 @237lbs, At the 2000 bench bash for cash Markus Schick did 562 @154. At the recent Arnold classic George Halbert weighed 198 and pressed 683. Dave waterman 187 did 630, Jesse kellum has done 611 at 198. Kenny Patterson 683 @220. the list isnt long but there are a handful.

I remember a long time ago in physics class we learned that there is some kind of decreasing relationship between strenth and body weight. For example, an ant can lift something like 100 times its weight, but if that ant had the same physical structure but weighed MUCH more, it wouldn't be able to lift any weight. That theory seems true because in the local lifting contests I've done, they use a ratio to find the overall winner of all weight classes. Body weight is figured in there somewhere, but its not just how many times your weight you lift, cause lighter powerlifters would usually win.

without a shirt and wraps, it's still possible and has been done by top powerlifters. i don't believe this to be possible for anyone not taking any AS though.

Uh, you're questioning a 405 bench? I would venture a guess that quite a few of these bros did that when they were naturals. My bench sucks ass and I had a 385 personal best before I touched the gear. I see natural guys hit that all the time.
