Just read Super Squats by Randall Strossen. Started the 20 rep squat routine this week, Im sore as hell! His program is supposed to be great for building mass. Im gonna do this for 6 weeks and see if I get any gains, then im going back to low reps, heavy weight. Have any of you other bros heard of this or tried it?

This is a big part of training for beach vball. Top player or two will do normal leg routine 2 times a week. And then do "light" high rep squats 4 times a week to develope muscular endurence and strong joints. Doing the high rep squats tend to make you do them faster, dont go past 90 degrees at the knees when jump-training in this way....bad knee stress. Try the high rep days on the Plyo-sled as well.

BOB OUT......."my brain tickles"

Yeah, the main reason I was interested in this routine, was to build my joints up. I had been going as heavy as I could (few lbs below max 3-4reps) and though I was getting very strong, my joints were killing me..So I wanted to give this a shot. I like it so far, and my body is definately not used to it. Today was my second workout with the squats and I can tell now that i have deep muscle soreness

The Deca really does help the joint pain. My one knee is "a ligiment short" of complete. Had to rehad it in college. Feels like a million bucks from the Deca.

I was raised on this shit, dude. Doing the deep pullovers to get that chest stretched out between sets?

Shit, no. Somebody would have to hold me at gunpoint before I went through that routine again. It got me and my nuts started though, and I gained about 20 lbs off of it, and soon after, a 56" chest, juice free. It's a great way to start, but at 300 lb I don't need to gain anymore weight, and that routine makes me put on weight.

It's really more than a great way to start, it's a rite of passage. I consider it essential for anybody starting out and wanting to lift heavy weights. Good luck and keep us posted. You'll be having some out-of-body experiences soon.

I do not know the routine you talk about, but I personally train my legs with heavy weights and 12-15 reps.

If you train your biceps with 4-8 reps, I think, that you must train your legs (biggest muscles) harder and with more reps than for example on biceps.

I purchased this book around three years ago. This system works great. You will get very strong off this routine. I did exactly what the book said, except for the part of drinking a gallon of milk a day. I used a 1/2 gallon of lactaid a day, with the supersquat program and went from 138, to 175, let me state I quit smoking and started eating big time, so I can't say all the weight came from supersquats but it help.
Basically all supersquats is take a weight you can do 20 reps with but struggling with, you know knees shake, then next workout add five pounds on and do it again. No matter what happens, how long that bar is on your back, pump out 20 reps. This system seemed to work for me, and I just started lifting again two months ago, so eventually I will jump back into it.

20 rep squats, ass to the floor, wide stance is building strength and size in my entire leg (especially the teardrop).

I can only do them once a week at most and I use a very light weight and focus on form.

Regardless of whether you read the book or not..You MUST live and die by the 20 rep squat routine. 20 rep squats will bust your fucking ass all over the gym if done right. And if your afraid to leave the heavy weights then just combine the 2. Do one set heavy max weight, you know the usual 5 - 8 rep weight. Then next set drop the weight and do your 20 rep set. I usually choose a weight I can barely get 12 -15, and then grind out 20 no matter what, sometimes I get tunnel vision and almost pass out. I fucking love that.

Peace,
The Natural
