All I can tell you is what I do 1. Weighted chinups with a 45 plate hanging from a chain belt (screw lat pulldowns!!) 2. Heavy bent rows. 3. Deadlifts from the floor. 4. Rack pulls. The chins build the width, the rest build serious thickness. Stick with the iron, the machines will not give you what you want! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

thanks bro i do everything but not sure what you meant by rack row. I may just have a diffent name for them. and I am love weight chins but now that I am hitting 45plates plus maybe a ten or two and weighting 230 i am having to use grips i hate it is it just a fact of life or what ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

First - it was Rack Pulls not Rack 'Rows'. In addition to the full deadlift and rowing/chinning movements a big favorite of mine is the power shrug. It's executed like a high pull from the knee level (athletic stance - elbows always locked). You accelerate the weight the same way as the power clean except you can use more poundage and train for reps (use straps). After I began olympic lifting I never did a shrug again until I came to this variation. Trust me - from the results you will never use any other form of shrug again - dynamic pulling is what really makes the traps and upper back go wild. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
