Everybody says that you should only lift each muscle group once a week but I don't seem to make any major gains that way. Also, I am on my first cycle (running 8 weeks of sust 500mg per week and d-bols for weeks 1-6). Now if I only lift each muscle once per week that is only 8 times throughout the cycle. Wouldn't I be better off twice per week to make 16 total workouts per muscle group during the course of my cycle?

My personal observation when I was doing 1 muscle group a week I would see avide growth in the muscles that I trained but the strength would only increase slightly. Then when I went and did each muslce 2 times a week, I seen some growth but, strength response was better. So for me it depended on what I wanted to accomplish. My split looked as such.

Monday & Wednesday - Complete lower body
Tuesday & Thursday - Complete upper body
Saturday - What ever I felt was lacking (light workout)

This is what I have found my body responds to better. Yours might respond well to a sigle workout a week.

What's your age....big factor.
If you are over say 30 then once a week is plenty. Younger guys can cycle thru' sooner cuz' their recoup time is quicker.
Perhaps you are not lifting heavy enough.
More info please and I'm sure the vets can help!
Good Luck!

Only 20 well that's different....
Try a 4 way split.
Shoulders/Back, Chest /Calves, Legs, Bi's/ Tri's.
Try a 4 on 1 off then 3 on 1 off. This will cycle each body part about 2 times a week and give some muscles a chance to work a little extra on the days you train others...
Like bi's getting to work on back day.
The 4/1, 3/1 lets your cycle start with a new muscle group after the rest day.
