I am currently coming off a cycle now. It will be one week next tuesday. In the near future, I will be starting the Body Opus diet which is a 7-day ketogenic cycle diet. 5 days of carb depleation, and 2 days to reach glycogen supercompensation. Since I am coming off the cycle now, within two weeks my cortisol levels will be very high and I am going to have to deal with muscle catabolization. I am thinking of starting the diet in two weeks instead to help aid me in keeping my muscle. I think this will help me for these reasons. First, since I will be depriving myself of carbs, insulin secretion will stop. This will help slow the catabolic process. Second, catabolism is slowed during ketosis. Third, since the diet includes glycogen supercompensation, my body will be in an anabolic state part of the week. My strength will increase. Heightened insulin activity transports amino acids and glucose into the muscle cell which helps lead to the expanding of the cell itself. I will also be using Chromium and vanadyl sulfate as insulin mimics. So, does this sound like a good idea or what? I know it is complicated, but it would seem to make sense. Thank you for any light you can shed on this for me. I wasn't sure which section to post this in, but I figured it all has alot to do with coming off my clycle. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I disagree with this part, where did u get this from? Insulin itself is very anabolic, which is why it is often used in conjunction with growth hormone for big guys that want to take a little time off, but not lose too much muscle that would defeat the purpose. You're going to shrink bigtime anyway, once you deplete your glycogen stores, your muscles will get really flat, and you'll feel like shit. Personally when coming off and wanting to keep as much mass as possible, it usually best to not do anything drastic. Once you have been off a few weeks and your hormones are back to normal then I would try the keto diet.

Ive played with the Bodyopus and I think just cutting carbs and documenting your results is more effective. I lost a lot of size using the keto diet. Initially from water and carbs - overall: from not keeping my muscles full of water and carbs. I know the bodyopus works well for some folks, but I would guess they are still on gear. Dont try a severe diet AND come off a cycle at the same time or you will need counseling to help you deal with all the size and strength you lose. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
