Hey everyone:
This is a weird injury but i was in a fight a few weeks ago and i got stabbed pretty far into my bicep.Anyway ,the drs saved me and they had to sew up my bicep and i have to wait for it to heal properly which could take up to 2 months.I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar to this happen. My bicep is 100 percent deflated and i know that muscle has memory and usually when you start to work out again you gain quikly what you lost, but i think that this is a different situation.I have been lifing about 3 years and my arm is almost as small as it was when i had just started to lift, and it has only been 3 weeks since this has happened and i last lifted.Anyway ,i am depresssed about this. Not only because of having one arm much bigger than the other, but i have no clue how long it will take for me to get my arm back to the size it was,and because it is one of my arms it makes it harder to do my chest and back so that is shrinking.Anyway, if anyone has ever had a situation simmilar to this can you please let me know how you healed and how long it took for you to get back to the point that you were at before it happened..Thanks alot..

Interesting situation. I haven't heard of that happening before, but sounds like that could be a serious problem. Are you going to have to take some therapy to get the sucker back in use? First off, sue the guy...second, take it SLOW because repaired muscle or skin isn't as strong as the original. The best of luck to ya!

I had a badly broken upper arm that included nerve damage. My triceps and deltoid were paralyzed for a few months. The muscle atrophy was severe. My shoulder looked like it caved in where it used to bulk out and I had nothing for a tricep.
About three weeks after I was first able to flex my tricep again, the muscle memory had my triceps about the same size as my good arm, but not as strong. It has been about 6 weeks, and the strength is very close.
I have a electro muscle stimulator that was prescribed to me to help fight the atrophy. It worked well, but cost my insurance company $1400.
The main troubles that I have had are not the muscles in the effected arm, but the muscles in my back that I was not able to exercise while injured. They are not coming back quickly due to the fact that I could not exercise at a high enough intensity to really work them.
Good luck on your recovery.

Well as far as me suing the guy i will.He is in much bigger trouble than me suing him because he did not only stab me but 2 or my friends also.Guess its stupid to think in this day and age you can get a fair one on one fight with no weapons(not that i even fight alot..Too old for that). But anyway yesterday was the first day that all my bandages came off and i saw that my arm had almost no muscle at all, and i hardly slept at all cause i was so depressed over it.I guess that it will come back, but from the way it looks i will feel like i am starting from day 1 again.Anyway i guess i will let you guys know how it heals and this summer i will be wearing long tshirts to hide myself. Thanks for your input. Its really appreciated

A year and a half ago I nearly lost my life when i tore my esophagus...I nearly bleed to death into my stomach.. In order to repair it they had to do major surgery...lay me on my side cut mt righr lat in half and saw through 2 ribs pull back my right lung and put a camara down my throat so they could se what they were sewing.( six pints of transfesed blood and 35 days later i was
back in the gym....the dr wanted me to wait 3 month. I now have a 13 inch long scare running from mid scapula to my serattus. My lat now has a double roll to it (though I feel it is every bit as wide as it was pre surgery) My best advice to you is come back slow don't even use weights that you would have warmed up with before...and take 4-5 workouts before you actually go to strainning on a set.and then each workout ada set until you are ready to go balls to the wall. Remember going super hard now (even if you could) will only get your arm size back one or 2 weeks earlyer then if you take it slow
