I can't find my other thread, so I'm gonna start a new one. A bunch of guys here had\have hernias, and I wanted to know how you work out and not agrivate it. I'm not gonna get surgery till after summer, so I need some workout to get buy. It will obviously be very light, but I'm confused on exactly how it gets agrivated. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Depends! there is two kinds. Painful and painless. Painful hernias drop ya to your knees from doing simple things. Painless hernias, which I assume you have, all depend on the person. I had a bad hernia that was painless. It would only flare up when doing squats or abs. Other than that my workouts were heavy. I put it off surgery, like you, for 6 months than 1yr...up to several years. I was stupid! I got the surgery done last October and was lifting within 4 weeks. no problem. Most dr. will say 4-6 weeks. Of course mine was commen "groin area" with that mess stuff. And I'm fairly young. Go balls out..unless it starts hurting than stop the lift. good luck! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't think I would even do leg presses. I would do extensions to keep my quads strong until I had time to recover from surgery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would just get the surgery quickly so you can get back into training like you need to. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Dude, check with your doc before you keep lifting heavy, you could rip yourself open big time. [This message has been edited by DrSuperSaint (edited April 09, 2001).] ![]() ![]() ![]()

Don't know if you guys remembered, but I am just recovering from my surgery. I was a dumb fuck like you, your typical assclown who tried to work through it. No matter what you say , do or think, you will make it worse, the worse you make it the longer you will take to recover from surgery. Don't believe what docs tell you. The surgery was not a big deal, I am assuming ..like me, it will be outpatient and you will not stay overnight. For the first week I could not get off the couoch without help, I was an invalid, it took me 3 days to shit and when I did, it was the most fucking painful experience in my life. I had staples in me as well...you can imagine, staples are tons of fun to have in you. I have a teflon patch in me holding everything together. I advise waiting 6 weeks before you return, I did not lose that much strength or size in 6 weeks, my secret...I overdosed on protein, protein shakes up the ass will let you hold on to what you have a little longer. I am now at the 8 week point after surgery and I am going full throttle, I am still not at normal poundages, between 10 - 15 pounds lighter on most lifts especially squat, after surgery go slow on the squat and even slower on the deadlift. Get the surgery done already. GOOD LUCK!!! its a nothing surgery, its the recovery that suck . Natural Mike ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
